Not yet, I just got the same email. I have been thinking hard about it though I have a KT-45, which I love and a brand new Z28 I'm still trying to bond with (very different beasts for sure). Please keep this post going and let me know how you like the Therapy and how it compares to other Z's.
Does your Z28 sound a bit dark when plugged straight in? I love the sound of it with a bit of boost or mild overdrive (Gain Changer) it seems to open it up a lot. I have the 1x12 combo with a Greenback. I do wish it were a bit brighter on it's own though.
The KT-45 is a really sweet amp, especially with the Z-Verb (Surf City!)

The KT-45 is a really sweet amp, especially with the Z-Verb (Surf City!) The Z28 is a bit sensitive to what speaker you put it through, in my experience, and if you don't want it dark and moody (which I didn't) then avoid Greenback type speakers, or the Red Fang. I ended up using a Weber Blue Pup Ceramic when I had a 1x10 which had lots of top end and was great, and my current G12 65 works fine with it. I found ceramic speakers work better for the Z28, if you want to bring out that top end. If the Z28 is new, you could consider swapping it up for a Therapy? There's a fair bit of Z28 in the Therapy (6L6 in the T; 6V6, but designed to sound very like 6L6 in the Z28), but the T has more Gain, and has the sweetest top end you could wish for - just a thought........

What Pete says pretty well sums it up. I'm using my 1979 Gretsch Country Gent into the Z28 with a Creamback. I guess the Filtertrons brighten it up some. I use a Bearfoot fx Sea Blue EQ at the end of my chain which helps also. I love the sound I get with my drive pedals through it. The only reason I'm going with the Therapy is that I just need a little more. Two other guitar players in our band use Maz 38s and they are blowing me off the stage. It's going to be payback time when my Therapy gets here. Sunday, I used the Z28 on the 3-3-3 setting everyone talks about. It was definitely a great sound , but got a little hard to play clean.

Yeah pay back time with Therapy. It like getting back at them with love. To think we're talking like this about OTHER Z AMPS!! Can you imagine how humbled all the OTHER manufacturers are going going to feel??

I contacted Humbucker about returning my Z28 combo and exchanging it for a Therapy head. There is something "wrong" with my Z28 and it's less than 30 days old. I should not be able to talk over the amp when it is fully "dimed" and it sounds like it's really muffled...awful sounding. I tried swapping the tubes, etc no difference...I hope they are willing to work with me on this, even if it cost me a few bucks I think I'll be much happier with a Therapy.

No, you should definitely not be able to talk over a dime Z28!! Mine is a LOUD little sucker and is never muffled....... sounds like an issue with a tube or two. Hopefully you can get the swap you want.

I could go for some blonde therapy. Or some brunette or redhead therapy. Of course another Z would be nice too.

Yeah--my Z-28 is head-crushingly loud at 3-3-3 without attenuation (and no, not the setting you want for cleans!). Sounds like a tube issue, for sure.

It wasn't a tube, I tried all new tubes (same dark, yucky sound)...so weird, It came with an 8 Ohm Greenback and so I tried the Z28 combo through my 2x12 Z-Best (8 Ohms) and it sounded obviously much bigger but still the same muddiness). Then I swapped the 8 ohm Greenback in the combo for a Vintage 30 (16 ohm) and plugged into the 16 ohm jack and "there it was" nice, clear tone!
I'll test the 8 ohm output jack later and see if it is the culprit. In the meantime, it sounds way better. Now I'm thinking I should try a G12H Anniversary or a G12H-75 Creamback.
I still want to try a Therapy!

Try the 16 Ohm speaker in the 8 Ohm output - that will tell you right away if that's the issue (it's okay to put a higher Watt speaker into a lower Watt output - but NOT the other way around. You may know this already, but better to say it twice, just in case )

More than likely an intermittent wire connected to the speaker. I've had this a few times and it always sounds just as you've described. Be careful - if you're driving that bad connection for too long you can damage your amp.

Thanks guys, I'll try out those scenarios today...I didn't mean to hijack the thread (honest) this is about the Therapy amp. Please post your findings on that baby, I am on the list for the next batch of Therapy's

Praise for Don at Dr.Z. he is a patient man. My fault, it turns out I had a ground loop issue (not amp related at all) that was screwing everything up. A flick of the ISO switch and all is good.
I really like the Z28 now (lol) Although I do prefer the V-30 to the Greenback. I guess I like the edgier sound over the smooth with this amp.
Thanks all for your kindness, I am still learning (obviously)
