Maz is the good doctor himself. All of the tape represents whose hands the amp went through in production and also in repair/modification at z.

I hit enter too early, lol. It'll also mention who the amp was originally made for. In this case, it looks like humbucker music.

So does the "MAZ" written right on the chassis imply that Doc did the quality assurance test, which is what I would gather from looking at the Ghia picture below Monza ones. Anybody with the master volume mod know if it should have the red mark where mine does not? Or can anyone tell by looking at pictures if it was 'correctly' done?

I think they mark them with a red sharpie during visual inspection when building. Those solder joints were probably re soldered when modded. I wouldn't sweat it.

Your intuition was correct, that is not a Factory MV upgrade. I can tell from the wire used as well as the 1/4 watt resistors twisted together.
I hope it wasn't sold to you as a Factory upgrade. But I'm sure it works OK, right?

This is my first Z with a MV so no comparison for 'right' BUT seems to be awesome, altho I find it turned up all the way often. Thanks sir for the confirmation.
