Well I'm curious if anyone else tried to find a speaker that isn't a Mid pronounced to run with the Monza. It seems that the amp itself has a strong mid presence, and when a/b ing between my Ghia it's hard to match the two amps because of the midness. Anyhow, I love how the Monza sounds, but am having trouble 'matching' it's tone with the Ghia if I want the Monza to sound like the Ghia but louder with more sustain.
Speakers used - Red Fang 10, Eminence Legend 10516, Celestion G12P-80
Beside that, anyone use an Alnico Blue 12"?
thanks everyone.

I never played a Monza but I recently had a similar issue with my Mazerati 1x12 combo. The mid was too strong and I couldn't dial it out using the tone control. I was running a Gold and swapping it with a Creamback. They sounded good, it just was too strong on the mids.
I tried a G12H-30 Anniversary speaker and it was exactly what I was looking for. Nice balanced tone. I think you will see the same thing with your Monza.
You can get a nicely used G12H-30 for cheap on eBay. Even better is the Hellatone 30 which is a G12H-30 that Avatar speakers breaks in for you.
The G12H-30 is the default speaker for both the Monza and Mazerati. Dr Z knows what he is doing when he pics speakers. I have found after spending a lot of money swapping speakers is that you usually don't get any better than what the Dr selected initially.
Let us know how you make out.

I think you might be right there. I've playing alot today and really listening to the Monza. I've removed it from it's 1x10 cab with Red Fang and put it into a head. The speaker I am liking best is the most ' neutral ' sounding speaker. Isn't that like the G12H-30 is too....neutral ish sounding. Where the Red Fang seems to have more Mids.
I am also thinking that maybe a higher wattage speaker would allow more clean sounds.... the Celestion is an 80 watt and the Fang is 50 watts that's where I am drawing my thought from.

If you don't want to emphasize the mids but you still want to be loud, bryan's suggestion of the G12H-30 would be a good one to try.
If you're looking to keep it in the 10" size, I've been very happy with the Ramrod in my 1×10 combo (wasn't a huge fan of the stock R-F 10 in there). Compared to the Red Fang, the Ramrod is very similar in tone, but less "uncontrolled" in the upper-mids and a little tighter; still very hard-rock sounding though, and very loud. Can easily be mistaken for a 12".
