Yesterday I purchased 2 GT 12ax7C's for my MAZ jr for V1 and V2 per suggestion of the Dr. Unfortunately the shop had one Groove Tubes Gold Series 12ax7C and one Groove Tubes Silver series 12ax7C. What are the MAJOR differences of these two SERIES of tubes, and which tube should I put in what position? Gold in V1 or V2 Silver in V1 or V2

Gold in V1 or V2 Silver in V1 or V2 We check them to see if they light up but they don't go through the rigorous testing of the Gold Series. They are a great value, and great in an emergency to get you through a gig. I stash a couple in my gig bag just in case. So far I haven't had to use them. If you have any other questions please feel free to give me a call at GT. Sam Austin Groove Tubes 1-800-459-5687

Silver series are tested in the same manner as gold series but gold series have to fall within a very narrow envelope for gain, noise, output, physical microphonics, and transconductance. The range for silver series is outside of the range for gold series but within typical new production tubes and they carry the same 6 month warranty (preamp tubes) as the gold series when it comes to failure.

Silver and Gold, wasn't that a song that Burl Ives sang on Rudolph the red nosed reindeer?

Hey Toneking, Siver and Gold was sung by Yukon Cornelius (Larry Mann). Burl Ives was the narrator, Sam the Snowman. My question is, why would I know this?

I don't know for sure if Yukon Cornelieus sang that song in the episode or not, but I know FOR SURE that Burl Ives did. Yukon Cornelieus was LOOKING for silver & gold, but Sam the Snowman sang it. No shame! Those Christmas "cartoons" (claymation) were the best ever made.

I been in the house that Burl Ives bought with all the proceeds, A guy I fished with in Anacortes bought it from him ;D
