Might be a good product, but the ad is kind of poly-tel ish. You know those 30sec TV comercials with the latest thing you have to own? I would take a serious look around the net for some review on this stuff. I figure if the Doc thinks an ugly orange silicone ring is good enough for the ef86 in my Z28 I won't mess with it. But who knows, this might be the next evolution in dampers. If you buy them let us know how well they work. ;D There was a previous thread about tube dampers somewhere not too long ago, I took a look around the net and landed on an audiophile site that was selling custom made brass or aluminium dampers that heatsinked as well for $120 a pair.

I'd be a bit concerned about heat with those ones, they cover a lot of the plates.

That's a good point zdogma...I never even thought about the heat factor with these. The last thing that I need is for my tubes to burn any faster!!! It's hard for a broke guy to replace tubes every 4 months!

Oh and as for $120, I'll put that money towards an airbrake!!! $120 you've got to be kidding me!!! My ears would never know the difference!

Dampers will help on feedback but the stuff that's rattling would be inside where the damper wouldn't touch. Wrap a rubber band around the offending tube and see if it helps. If it does you could go to a hardware store and see if they have the hi temp silicone O rings. Black O rings would probably be fine on a preamp tube since they don't get as hot.

Thanks for the insight. Here's the thing though: I found one tube in general (el84) that seems to cause the most "rattle-ish" noise, and when I would put some pressure on it it would nip that noise in the bud. I haven't ever had a problem with my preamps, but my power amps really seem to give me some grief. I thought there for a while that maybe the tube socket needed tightening...but to no avail. I really don't know...I'm a touch lost.

One other thing. It's not all the time, it's mainly on the "hot spots" on my (or any) guitar. around the 8th fret on my low E on my fender really lights it up. Thoughts?
