does anyone know if TV-7s have a proper setting to test EF86/6267 tubes? my guess is that they don't and they are fudging some settings to test them...

Why do you think that? I've been using my TV7 on EF86s with no apparent ill effects.

Why do you think that? I've been using my TV7 on EF86s with no apparent ill effects. i can't remember where (maybe at the tube section of Audio Asylum) but i thought i heard that some "older" tube testers can't or lack the settings for EF86. that vague recollection prompted my post. maybe it was one of the Hicock tester? like those before 6000?

No idea what you're talking about. My TV7 has EF86s listed in the test book and everything works fine.

One thought, I have a TV7 DU which uses different setting for some tubes than other TV7s. Maybe the different models don't handle EF86s?
