I'm wondering about a Z 2x10 with the Docs 10s as I already have one? I know it may take awhile for someone to chime in on this but I can wait...

Any speaker updates for the Therapy! Wondering about the Creamback M with this amp? I'm liking my Creamback M with it, sounds great! I just ordered the new G12H-75 Creambabk to try also. I'll give an update on it whenit arrives.

The Therapy is my next Z I just didn't want to run through a bunch of different speakers when I already have my well broken in Z 2x10.

You will like the 2x10 and will be fine but a 1x12 is awesome. I am trying an invader this coming weekend

I could take the plunge on a Z 1x12 down the road with a Creamback or something and would be able to swap the Gold around with that, oh the options...

I'll play mine, at least initially, through a Creamback M... Though, I LOVE Doc's 210 cab, and wish I still had mine. After a long period of break-in time, that cab sounded fantastic with everything I played through it.

Installed the Invader last night,it sure needs to be broken in but it sounded sweet. The Invader 50 is a sweeter and creamier version of the Green Beret (WGS version of the greenback).

Been using the Creamback M65 with my Therapy, loved it. I just bought a Creamback H 75 and tried it yesterday. The H is not bad. It has some of the same characteristics of the M. The M sometimes would get a little too Muddy, if that's the word. I think the H is going to be the speaker I'll be using. I've heard that the H would be too much high end. It doesn't seem any more than the M. I've tried the Anniversary H and didn't like it. The Creamback H is a little different.

Wonder what the new A-Type Celestion would sound like with the Therapy? I have a 1/12 cab that is loaded with one.... The A Type is a more American sounding speaker, it's great with my Carr Skylark and 65Amps Tupelo. It would make it an easier buy for me to get a Therapy, and not a new cab......

Still liking my Creamback 12 H 75 with the Therapy. I seem to be the Lone Ranger Creamback H lover with the Therapy user, but I have tried the M 65 and also the Gold. The H 75 just works great with my Filtertrons on my Gretsch. Still lovin my Therapy!

I'm going to order a Therapy as soon as an amp sells. I've got a 2x12 vertical with an EV SRO ceramic and a WGS Blackhawk hp I'm going to try. I also have the Reaper hp and another SRO in single cabs to try. I also have a gold, emi tonker, G12H30 and a blue alnico weber laying around to try. I'm sure I'll find something around that will work.

Both speakers and cab size/design play such a huge role in the sound you get - it's crazy ! I got to play my Therapy thru an old Fender cab that a friend of mine owns and it was wicked. It has 15" speakers. Big old beast. 68 I think he said. Hendrix used to play thru one. The lower midrange and chime was unbelievable. The speakers had an early breakup , so the volume on noon sounded like my V30's cab - with a boost in front , with the volume maxed. But - TONE , TONE , TONE. wow. Lesson ... Don't underestimate the importance of a great speaker/cab combination when judging your amp !

Thanks for the recommendation. I've got a 15" speaker in a Vibroverb clone so I will give it a shot. Other than that after doing a lot of testing I have liked the Alnico Gold the best although I may have a new favorite after today, the Ragin Cajun speakers. I tested the Therapy out with my 2 x 10 cab wtih Ragin Cajun's and I was surprised how good it sounds with a big fat bottom end. (Port City cab). I need to A/B it vs. the Gold when I get a chance before I make a final call... But, that is part of the fun.

So far my fav is the Celestion Gold but I also like Doc"s 2x10 as well as my WGS Invader and as of last night my Eminance big Ben. Initially I did nto care much for the Big Ben with the Therapy but I must have done something wrong because yesterday it rocked from clean to semi/clean to OD..
I also like to use my PCNS and run 2 1x12 (or 2x10)together. The C gold and the invader or the 2x10 and the 1x15

doctrice: Your 1x12 will be with what speaker? Creamback first. I have an EV 12 in a Mesa cab also. I suppose I could connect it to the Gold in the Z Wreck combo too. Hey Mike, I've got a EV12 & Gold in an open-back cab. I think it'll be the first cab I hook-up tomorrow. Come to think of it: there's a stock Z-Best right next to that cab. Hmmmmm...

Curious to hear the Ceramic SRO though.

I ran mine thru my 1x10 with a Ramrod in it and sounded nice. The therapy has enough bottom end to make the 10" speakers sound great too.

Still lovin' my 1-12 Z cab w/Gold. I've been enjoying my Germino cab with two Creamback M's too!
I have a Mather 4-10 cab coming in a couple more weeks with 4 Gold 10's waiting to be installed.....and waiting to be ROCKED!! The Therapy seems to be begging for a four 10 AlNiCo's!! More on that to come.

Theoretical question at this time (don't laugh), but would a 30W Scumnico handle the Therapy if not pushed too far? What would a V30 give me that the Scumback doesn't?

Well the v30 is actually 60 watts. So you would get more headroom right from the start. Also the ceramic mag of the v30 will have that ceramic tightness and punch. I'm sure the scumnico would be OK unless you are playing at max volume all the time. Once you start getting those 35 watts cooking pretty good, the scumnico will break up.

This is a very useful thread, guys! As it happens I already have an older Z 1x12 cab (the narrower version) with a V30/Hellatone and have been going round on what Z would work best for my use. After starting on the Route 66 direction, then looking at the Z28, and the Remedy, I seem to be orbiting more around the Therapy now. It's hard to see a down side here with its take on a tweed twin flavor PLUS the Master volume for versatility. Looks like I may be selling some gear to get some really effective Therapy for a change. :-) And nice to hear that the V30 works well with the Therapy.
Thanks as always, for all the insight and experience, and the diagnosis straight from the Dr. here.

Rick, it looks like it was a good thing you didn't buy my Remedy now that you're eyeing the Therapy. My Remedy sold last week and I ordered a new Therapy, can't wait!
Cheers,

Got myself a V30.
Not sure it was worth it..... yet. Very much needs to be broken in. Has that new Celestion harsh highish end spike, which is not very pleasant on the ears. It certainly suits the Therapy even as it is - more pronounced mids, which lets me roll the M back on the amp. It also has a nice meaty smooth break up when the Therapy is driven hard. I think when it's broken in, it will be a perfect companion for the Therapy. Also, although the V30 is 100dB, and the G12 65 97dB, I'm not noticing a huge difference in perceived volume........
So, back to my "not sure it was worth it" comment........... I say this because, although maybe slightly better suited to the Therapy, I still can't fault the G12 65 I had in there originally. That is, for me, a GREAT general purpose, and much overlooked, speaker........ I think I'll look for a lightweight 2x12 line cab and put them both in there. That could be a VERY interesting sound indeed!
