I don't know about their tubes, but I steer clear of that company. Why? I bought an inexpensive mod for my Fender amp. It came missing two parts. I called, and they promised shipment. Three weeks later I called again. They promised shipment. Never heard from them again. Nor have they heard from me--except in these forums.
The cost of the parts was minimal--that's not what bothered me. It was the complete disregard for me, (the customer), after they received my money.
For what it's worth, I've had very good experiences buying NOS tubes from Mike at KCA. Give his website a look......

Mitch....I'm assuming it's 5V4 or 5V4GA rectifiers you want ? I got a few good ones off ebay , just check the sellers feedback and make sure he will stand behind them . I'm with you on poor service from a company backwardsman....the way they treated you was pathetic and I would never buy from them either based on your poor experience with them

I just purchased a fralin SP43 for the bridge position of my Lake Placid Blue Strat. lets hope it arrives ok and doesn't take forever.

I've dealt with Torres Engineering many times and I've never had an issue with them. Sorry to hear of backwardsman's bad experience.

I have purchased the Torres Mods for my Champ 12 via the Internet, not phone. The transaction was smooth and timely. The Mods were easy to install. However, I asked a couple of questions via email and have never received a response.

I can vouch for KCA. That's where I'd go first.

I've done lots of business with Torres for a long time. Occasionally, they may take a little longer with some pickups that are out of stock, but I have nothing but praise for them... I bought tubes from them too, but they were just basic tubes without balance check or anything. When I need new production tubes with any balance check or whatever, I got to the good tube places. When I want certain pickups I got to Torres. I've only called in one order, but I usually just use their shopping cart.

I know some folks have had problems with Dan, and I do believe them. My story is a positive one as I live about 25 miles from his shop. He has fixed many a problem of mine on Fender amps. If you call up talk to Jeff, or Cameron and you will have no English issues. As for tubes they do not screen their tubes, so if you are local its not to bad, but for those of you buying from a distance a safer bet is KCA or Doug's Tubes. Dan does keep a few NOS tubes on hand like the 5V4's and a few others. I purchased some of the 5V4's from him and they all were great tubes.

DC here! I have bought three times I think - tubes fro Mike at KCA - prompt and professional - never a problem + he has a very good rep too. (ask anybody on this board and talk to Myles) I bought one EF86 tube from Nitehawk55 - I trust HIM - no question. I bought a pair of matched NOS KT66 G.E.C tubes from Brendan Biever at: www.tubeworld.com/. Also very prompt and professional service - the tubes were matched within 3 miliAmps - just as promised. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

I won't do business with them any more. I ordered a 5Y3 rectifier that was bad right out of the box. Even though they shipped it pretty fast, they won't answer any emails or return any calls regarding the transaction.

Yeah - that stinks. Misstakes can be made. Things can break. What counts is what you you do to rectifiy ( no pun intended) the problem.

I've dealt with Torres Engineering over the years and have never had a problem. His store is not far from where I live - - it's very old school. Their mods on Fender amps, in particular, are great. Sorry to hear that some folks had problems; no one I know ever has.
