Anyone have both the Stang Ray and the M12? The clips sound very similar with a Tele - I'm curious if you have both, what is your perception? That front end design has been calling to me...

I'm very interested in an M-12 as well, but fear that few amps will have the thud factor of the Stang Ray!
I was very impressed however with the low end you got from your Remedy demo videos...giving me major GAS! Thanks for uploading those!

Definitely not the solid piano-like low-end in the M12, like the StangRay has. I think there just simply ain't enough wattage to make it happen. I don't have both--just the M12. But from the sound of Mike's Stingray that I played a while back (an amazing sound that still haunts and taunts me) I haven't experienced my M12 quite going "there."
Not to take away from the M12's coolness, though--I really, really like mine. But it's more "spanky" clean than "authoritative" like the StangRay.

Well I know the M12 could never equal the Stingray's low piano tones, but the 'ray has nearly three times the power. So if you have your 'ray on a couple of clicks of the Airbrake, does the M12 approach that sound, or is it an entirely different animal altogether? The clips sure sound like my old 'ray...

We could investigate this at Mike's Z-Fest, Steve. It'd be interesting to compare the Ray Airbrake'd and the M12 straight. (And same for the Z-Wreck, if one's available.)

Well, I'll be bringing my M12--and Mike's got Stingray #1--and (somebody?) brought their Wreck last time. I think it's a great "investigation" that we could try, even if you're not able to make it. Might not be too difficult to record audio and/or video of it, too. This would help answer all those questions out there about whether the M12 is the "mini Wreck" or "mini StangRay" or whatever else.

Well it has to be the mini "something," doesn't it? I just may have to have one on principle (I love all of the clips I hear of it) but it's always nice to get others perspectives first.

Try a good 5AR4 rectifier in the M12 also when you do this comparison...
the 5AR4 will tighten it up a bit, give a bit more volume and headroom... I love the NOS 5Y3 and the feel of it, and keep mine stock like that... it is a bit different from and works well WITH the Maz Jr.
IMHO the 5AR4 makes a noticeable difference in a good way... if I were to have to use the M12 INSTEAD of my Maz jr I could easily put a 5AR4 in there and get a bit closer to the Clean Maz / Ray type sound and feel.
again, just my opinion the way I use em,
I would love to hear your opinions of a side by side comparison.

I put a NOS 5V4 in mine way back and Love how it sounds. I gotta look to see if I put the 5Y3 back in there... 5V4 is still in there!
