Hi, all - Been lurking for months, bought a gently used M12 back in March (with a lot of guidance from this site!), Love the amp, although I think I'm starting to wish I'd gotten a head/cab rather than a combo (12"). Sound guy at church wants to put me in an iso box, but I think it will get too hot. I digress ... :-} Anyway - the amp has been great until last night. Finished rehearsal and my amp was hissing, vol was at noon .. it wasn't noticeable when playing, but won't be able to leave it on like that during quiet parts of the service. Been searching this site and this thread is about the closest I've come to finding a possible solution. I've seen the troubleshooting page on Doc's site, don't have any spare tubes to swap - anyway to diagnose without buying new tubes? Any thoughts on which tube I should check first? EF86? Any help/direction appreciated.
Thanks! Roark

Thanks!
Rectifier tube was bad, new one installed. 12ax7 was starting to fail so I replaced that one too. Amp sounds better! EF86 was a new one for both music stores in my area - neither had one. Tested okay, but they said no way to know if it's making noise without swapping.
First time for me getting in there and pulling tubes - a little nerve wracking. But I learned a ton today - and I'm ready to play tomorrow!

do yourself a favor and go get a Dario Mini-watt EF86 nos tube. you will not regret it. seems that modern EF86's are as dependable as a stripper showing up for the early church service on sunday morning!
