Hey guys,
The kind folks at Seymour Duncan sent me their '53 Custom Shop tele pickups to try out in one of my guitars. Feel free to check out the vid/demo I put together for them!
Cheers, Kris

Great vid, Chris. Sounds awesome! Gonna have to look into that pickup for my CS tele. Not unhappy with what's in there now, but that sounds really nice. Of course, how can you go wrong w/ SD pickups? Great playing, too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kris
How do you like the set? Would you recommend them? Do you feel it still has the Tele tone? It appears to still have the Twang!! I have been looking at this set so I am interested in your opinion. What got me started was I thought my 2011 American Standard Bridge was a little thin. I have been looking at Bardens,Dimarzio,Keystones,Kleins and David Allen's.

You can really get lots of different sounds with the 5 way switch which splits the coils. Highly recommend them.. it'll blow your stock fender american pickups away

Thanks for your comments Kris and for posting your video as there are not many examples out there. I needed a Tele in the collection as I had sold one six years ago and missed it badly.I just happened to pickup a used one in fantastic condition. Now the fun starts!
Thanks

I think I saw a video of Johnny Hiland testing that pickup. He was impressed with it.

Are you still liking the duncan 53 set? And if you don't mind me asking what amp were you playing through? I'm curious as to how these would sound with the Zwreck or StangRay.

Dang Kris! What a cool vibe, man! I just ripped the soundtrack, and put it on my iPod. You'll be heard at all my band's breaks for a while. Really dig the little jam, brother! Pups sound great, too!

I'd buy a pair on the strength of that video. Nice job.

Thank you Kris for the GAS. I purchased a set and put them in my 1986 62RI MIJ Tele.
A few points for others that want to get a set...
I had to grind the slot in the bridge plate (Callaham) a bit to get the pickup to fit. The bridge pup windings are covered with what appears to be fine cotton cord dipped in wax. The covering made the sides and ends of the pup a little larger than the plastic bobbin; hence the need to grind the slot so that it would move freely in the bridge plate. I elected to use a push pull pot instead of the 5 way switch to enable the tap.
The neck position and the middle position have some really sweet tones. The bridge pup is very percussive and can snap, snarl, and growl when pushed with a heavy attack. I back off the tone on the guitar just a bit to take a little of the high edge off.
My Prescription ES loves these pups and is very dynamic with them.
David
