Hi Friends! Have a line on a used (1998) KT-45 in red Tolex with newer tubes. The chassis is signed by Dr. Z in marker. It is advertized, and looks to be in excellent condition both in function and cosmetics and DOES have the Ultra Linear OT with the "Cin Tran-3232" label. So...what do you all feel is a fair price...not including shipping costs? Thanks!

Really!! Hmm...I thought I was getting a good deal at $900 seeing as though they're retailing for around $1850 these days. Maybe I should hold off for a better deal??

$700.00 to me, so I can flip it for $900... Actually I'd feel real good at getting a nice one in the $900.00 to 1,000.00 range.

I'd grab it if you have the dough.
Put it through a nice cab. It's a loud amp, takes pedals well and is guitar friendly. I love it with the Z-Best. I also liked it with some Weber speakers both ceramic and AlNiCo Silvers and Blues. I did it that way to cut back on the volume.

I think Paul is just about right on in his estimate.

Where I was with my estimate of $700 to $750 was based solely on age; the $900 to $1,100 range is pretty common here in BST.

Hmm,I paid $1200 for a 2011 and thought I got a good deal. If I bought this one I would send it to the Doc anyway for a tube change and overhaul which would probably bring the total somewhere near my price.
Go for it!

I guess I'm late to the party here, but used Z-amps command on average about 60% of their new sales price (on eBay, that is). Without any rhyme or reason, though, some routinely go for more (MAZ and Remedy = 65%) and others go lower (Route, KT, and SRZ = 55%). Seems random to me, but the trends don't lie.
PS. Those are head prices specifically; I generally don't track combos and such...

Just sent my payment for the red '98 head. After a lot of great conversation with the owner, I'm feeling like it will be a great amp for the price! He's including some very nice NOS tubes as well as some spares with the deal. Miniwatt EF-86, GE 5AR4, etc. I'll follow up when I receive it...hopefully by the end of next week!

Late to this thread. I think you got a smokin' deal on the KT. Plus getting the now tubes and spares. You did great. I hope you enjoy it as I am sure you will. Let us know your thoughts once you have had some time with it. Good luck and enjoy.

When did these switch to a solid state rectifier?
