I have had mine for a while, finally got a chance to gig it.....it was at a big Church (for good fri). I have tried a few different amps there like my vintage Princeton Reverb, Z28 with 2 -10s, MAZjr, and the Gia. So I went early and tried them all out with various speaker combinations. Settled on the M12 through a 12 inch Jenson , the newer high power ones Fender used in there Twins and Deluxe reverb. First off, this speaker sounds great with most any Z. Think it's a c 12k ?? Anyway, after battling with the sound man in the past, whom is deaf in one ear, I went with the M12. Everything set to about 2 O'clock (hi switch on) with pedalboard. It did great, surprised the heck out of me. ( because it's only 12 watts). I never in my dreams thought a 12 watt amp would work for me live anywhere ! It totally rocked. Sound man even put me in the mix for a change ! I got great tones, nice and clear with a little hair. Worked great with my pedalboard. And it also fits the CC style like a glove. It is a little brighter then some other Z models, but with this speaker choice, it helped thicken things up. I also noticed it didn't seem as bright once the band was playing, it helped me slice through the mix just like downtown. Great little amp! I can't think of anything it compares to, nothing like the Princeton reverb, it's got its own thing going on, and it's a good thing ! For anyone wondering about which Z for the Church gigs, I would look into the M12. You can crank it enough to get some natural sounding drive without any static from the sound booth.

Volume wise how would it couple with the Ghia? Also .... Really cool to have an amp that you don't have to think about when you trying to connect with spirit I bet. Glad you're enjoying it.

The Gia holds it's own next to the M12.....it's not as clean, but real close in volume. It sounded very good in that setting as well. Probably my second choice. It never sounded powerful enough until I tried it with the same Jenson I'm running with the M12.

So even though the Ghia is 18 watts and the M12 is 12 watts ... Your ears told you that the M12 was louder? I know the Ghia is a little dirty...but she can be forgiven for that right

When I did an A/B comparison, the M12 volume was at 2 O'clock, the Gia at about 10 or 11 O'clock and they were almost exactly the same volume. The Gia had more coloration, where the M12 stayed cleaner and seemed very neutral , with a little more shimmer in the top end. Sometimes wattage ratings can be deceiving . But both really good, like two different color crayons out of the same crayon box if that makes sense....

I used the Ghia at Easter Vigil w/ G&L ASAT. No sound man and the monitors died at the beginning of the night. Still a great night. The Ghia still sounded great at the lower volume necessitated by the monitor mishap.

Frankie, what kind of pedals are you pushing that M12 with? I play in church, too, and we cover everything from gnarly/dirt (Hillsong, etc) to just my version of clean (Knofler "Brothers in Arms" tone still makes me choke up...)
PS - fellow Clevelander here. East side. I used to catch you out this way (remember Meximillian's in Mentor??? haaha!). BTW, seeing you play back in the day was one of the reasons I picked up guitar.

Wow ! Thanks acroberts.......i use a Klon or Timmy for dirty rhythm tones, and a BB Preamp (Andy Timmons version) for leads. Also on the pedalboard are DLS chorus-vibe, Foxrox Aquavibe, and a Strymon El Capistan. I might be forgetting something, but that's the main stuff. I did change the board around especially for this setting, but not to different then what I used to use for the Blues band. Oh , and wah pedal....Area 51 (pretty sure). It sounds great too. The Church is in Macedonia if you ever want to say hello some time, it's called Faith Fellowship. Thanks again for the kind words, would like to meet ya sometime.
