Can I use a pair of 7581 instead of kt66? Just curious I'm about ready to re tube and I'm weighing my options.. any suggestions on solid kt66 out there in current production..

I'm not sure whether those tubes will work or not. The amp will sound better with proper KT66 tubes as that's what it was designed around.

DC here! Any 6L6 type of power tube should work in principle. Email DR-Z himself and ask. And as doc001 pointed out the amp and output transformer was designed around the KT66 tubes. So those tubes will likely yield "the best" sound. But as we say in sweden: Smaken är som baken - delad The taste is like your rump - divided Cheers: Dixiechicken!
