I find the KT-45 is not a cab picky amp. I use mine with a few things ....
With an open back 2x12 with Jensen C12K's, it will cover those clean Fender Twin tones with ease even though it is an EL-34 based amp. It is more pedal friendly than my Twin reverb also.
With a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks it will do those 60s and 70s hard rock tones when turned up. If you can find a 4x12 cab with Fanes it will be able to cover the Hi-Watt tones and old Orange amp tones.
If you can find a closed back Vox 4x12 with 15 watt Vox silvers in it you have AC-50 tones but a bit louder.
My favorite cab though is a stock Z-Best with the V30 / H30 config.

I liked H30's and Vintage 30's.
You might try a mix of 2 H30 75hz and 2 H30 55hz (bass cone) for a great mix of low end, high end, and full lower and upper midrange. It's a pretty full-range speaker combo.
Otherwise a mix of Vintage 30's and H30's is also great. A 4x12 loaded with just vintage 30's with the KT would be enough to take your head off. If your going to match up 4 of the same speaker, I'd stick to greenbacks or H30s.
Never tried a greenback with the KT45 before I sold it, but I know Z said he loves it with greenies.

i use my KT45 with either a marshall straight loaded with V30's or an open back 2X12 cab loaded with a bulldog and a G30H. they sound real good. two different flavors although i wish sometimes (not all the time) that the KT45 would get a little brighter thru the 4X12's.

And if you want lots of variety and VERY detailed descriptions, check out Ted Weber's speakers at www.webervst.com. Ted can help you fit your amp with a speaker voiced *exactly* as you want it. My friend Lou Toomey, who plays guitar with Brooks & Dunn, uses his KT-45 with a semi-closed cab and the trusty Weber Blue Dog/Silver Bell combination. I hae the same setup in my MAZ Sr. 38 combo. Also is the speaker setup for Brad Paisley. I agree with Myles in his above post, though.....The stock Z- Best combo of an H30 and a V30 is pretty darn awesome. JC

How about a front ported KWCabs 2x12" with newer Greenback and a Celestion Blue? Will it go from chimey to beefy if the tone controls are set right? (we'll be getting overdrives and distortions from pedals like King of Tone, Cusack Screamer Fuzz, Rangemaster)

There are 2 G12H30s in my KT-45 Combo (call it an open back 2x12), and I like them in there. There is more bass and low mids because of the speaker combo, which may bother some people, but I can dial in more treble to balance it out (Rangemaster). With all the dials at 3 o' clock the bass starts to fuzz up a bit, but at that point its pretty frickin' loud. I wear Hearos earplugs when I play and after a little jam I did 10 minutes ago, my ears still ring a bit. Can't wait until I get an Airbrake.... Through an open back 4x12 it will kill people--with great tone, of course
