ok, so as most of you Antidote fans or "dote" fans know...I recently got one. Currently been rocking it out in my living room with my gibby 347, and Am St strat. 1/12 cab loaded with C-creamback. "usually run it on 2 clicks of the brakelite..still good and "loud". totally rocked out "in my own mind" to dazed and confused this afternoon..........
Soooooooo.....haven't opened the "guts" up yet. I's the bias pot located on the inside? Underside of the chassis? Does that have to be removed to re-bias the amp for new power tubes?
Also.........Coulda swarn/sworn......I read that this amp could do El 34's also. can it? with just a simple re-biasing? And if it ran El 34's , what kind of tone/gain differnces could be noted?

Not sure where pot is but the production amp can only handle KT66s. The prototypes had a switchable EL34/KT66. I'm sure to make it more affordable/simpler Doc eliminated the switchable option for the production. It does sound better with the KT66s.

I asked the Doc about EL34s when I got my first one (#009). He said the a bias resistor swap was needed. I think the circuit could sound great with the '34 but I'm pretty happy with the '66 Jaguarguy: sounds like yours has the switchable bias...what were the '34s like?
