Are you looking for NOS tubes or new tubes?

Here are a couple of 6L6 tubes that are good but not expensive from Mike at KCA NOS tubes. The Rubys' kcanostubes.com/content/estore_details.asp?category=3&product=298Svetlanas kcanostubes.com/content/estore_details.asp?category=3&product=109The best new ones from Groove Tubes.(probably your best bet) Make sure they have a high rating. kcanostubes.com/content/estore_details.asp?category=3&product=102The GT6L6GE with a high rating of 8-10 will give you the most headroom and clarity. A rating of 4-7 is usually considered the average giving you the best of both worlds, enough clean headroom and also a breakup that is not too early. Here is another link: www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=1713Mike at KCA might be able to help you out with some NOS tubes. He is a fountain of knowledge and is worth talking to. The RCA Black plates are considered to be the grail for Fenders. Also putting 5751s in place of 12AX7s in V1, V2, V4 can give you more headroom and a rounder, sweeter high end. It is a SRV trick I believe. I have them in my 66 deluxe as well as a pair of RCA blackplate 6V6s and they rock. Made my whole amp have more headroom and have a sweeter top end. You might want to change your Phase Inverter tube as well. I heard it is good to change these out when you change out power tubes. Anyway, I hope this helps. The NOS tubes Harold(hdahs143) recommended is the best one for the job so far. You might want to contact Myles on this forum, he is like a Jedi master when it comes to tubes and amplifiers. He also works for Groove Tubes and can help you find the right pair for you if you go the GT route.

My Super does not have a Master....I am thinking I will go with the Groove tubes with a high rating.

I need a 6L6 tube that will give me maximum clean headroom and clarity with my 72 Super Reverb Of the current production tubes, the 6L6GE is strong and one of the best sounding tubes out there. Go for a #8 rating and bias at 30mA - 32mA. www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=1713If you order these online via GT put a note in the comment section stating - "show this order to Myles for #7-8 only please" and I will hand trace a set for you.

Uh...Ivy...Hand...trace.........uhhhhhhhhh what was I gonna say....... Those 3 words together make it somewhat uh, err HARD to concentrate..... If you want to get over the lack of concentration, all you have to do is come to one of our photoshoots. There is one this Fri, Sat, Sun, in North Hollywood. Some of the guys from GT such as Rick Benson have even been called on to be a part of the shoot.... same with John March ( www.zenbluesmusic.com ) who even was called upon for some "couple shots" with my wife as John looked a lot better than I did! In any case ... if you spend three full days shooting without stopping much and just hanging out you soon find that these girls are terrific gals and are nothing to loose concentration over .... they are nice, real, fun, people. Frank Murdock (photographer from Implied Images - www.onemodelplace.com/member.cfm?P_ID=85282 is the man behind the camera and a wizzard with those things with lenses!
