I snagged an original for $400 shipped (cover included). Yeah, I love these miniature tone machines.
BUT!!! I jumped on it too quick. I didn't realize their was an undated version. So this one is with the 8" speaker. I'm hoping the baffle is big enough to accept a 10"er.
This amp I believe should go down nicely on tape.

I got the amp last night. It's really pretty amazing! I didn't expect it to sound so chimy and focused. I compared it to my SF Fender champ which is also an 8" speaker amp and it has some magic going on. The Champ on the other hand has some other magic that I can't put my finger on. It's not as articulate, but it has a mid presence that sounds fantastic. The Z however spanks the champ badly in the low end and the sparkly high end ...... that and the Z stays focused no matter where the volume knob is pointed! I'm wanting to record some stuff with this amp and see how it goes down on tape.
It's looking like I'm going to end up with a new 10" version too ..... I'm so stoked with the 8, I hate to miss out on something that may be even better!

The first gen Mini's are a real treasure !! Do a few tube swaps to experiment. Enjoy the amp !!
