Well, my Maz 8 finally landed! Just spent an hour playing through it. Wow. This is a remarkable machine. Especially given the studio combo size , it has such great , rich complex cleans and can really get a nice grind going too. Amazingly versatile , and I haven't tried the tone stack bypass yet! I'm really excited about this amp , I have a lot of thoughts I have to sort thru about it. First of all I really like the size and weight. It gets surprisingly loud. But even more importantly is the tone(s). I haven't found a bad sound. I haven't found a mediocre sound. It just sounds terrific , even at low volume. While it definitely has it's sonic roots in the Maz18 , it also seems to have it's own thing going on as well. I have to admit when I decided to get it , I was thinking "Half a Maz". Really , to me , this amp stands on it's own. I think Doc should have given it a different name. Something like "Cobra" , so it wouldn't be compared to the Maz. It is really another amazing ,unique Doc Z creation, and a fine addition to the Z family of amps. I can't wait for the weekend , I have to run my Ricks and pedals thru this guy. I am so happy I bought this amp. Just my impressions and opinions , friends

Yes I think youll just keep getting more fond of the blonde...cobra?
I do believe they are as I mentioned different enough to warrant a sibling or two.(differently voiced)

Congrats, Frank. It does have its own signature, compared with the bigger MAZs. In part the single (power) tube design, I'm sure. Have you tried triode yet? For a real old-school feel, go triode and eq bypass, crank the master (all or nearly all the way up) and dial in with volume and cut. You can thank me later
