Hey everyone
I've been reading that 5751 tubes were manufactured with balanced triodes - is this true or do they still need to be checked for balance? Thanks!

You should check them for balance but as a rule that was one of their mil-spec requirements .... balanced triodes and the ability to handle 600Gs! I don't know how they tested that without breaking the glass!
But most of the NOS stuff has been bounced around for decades and that is why I check them.
On new 5751's .... they do not resemble or trace anything like a real one. Just a point of info.

After having tested 1000s of 5751s I have to wonder where the "manufactured with balanaced triodes" rumor came from. 1000s may be a relatively small sampling, but all indications are that 5751s are no more likely to be balanced than any other preamp tube. Mike K www.kcanostubes.com

Mike -
I have found them closer than most 12AX7s over the years but still not matched generally.
