After much agonizing over Ray vs Zwreck I decided to buy another Ray. I have owned both in the past and decided the Ray fits my needs better. I play most gigs with my amps in that dirty/clean zone that works well chicken pickery and use pedals for the tunes that need to rock out. I go from Pete Anderson to Brad Paisley to Skynyrd. Those sounds cover pretty much everything my band does.
After searching around the web I found the color I wanted, a nice black with tan valence. Anyway it comes loaded with a gold. I have an oversized oval back cab, a dumble style cab I use with my Redplate amp. It tends to have a pretty healthy bottom end on for it a 1x12 cab.
I'm wondering what speakers would go well with the gold when I play big room and want the second cab. Ideally I like to have one speaker that can give me the big bold deep twang I like on my low E and A strings, think Pete Anderson type licks, while the other breaks up a bit easier and smooths out the top a bit.
Perhaps the gold + a ceramic speaker?
hmmm

ps. I do realize the Ray does not have an extension speaker out. I figured I would run out of the Ray into the cab and back from the cab to the Ray's combo speaker in series.

Maybe pair that Gold with a G12H30? That should give you some good bottom and top end

I'd go with a Celestion Blue - get that Z-Wreck cab sound goodness.

The Gold will be balanced perfectly by a Hellatone 30. Give it a try. I use an RxES head with two Avatar cabs with that combination (Gold + Hellatone 30) and it's glorious.

I agree with a blue. The gold will stay tight while the blue will break up for the rock stuff.
