Dr Z EZG-50 with a Z 4x10 vs a 1967 Fender Bassman with a 2x12 loaded with a Cesltion Gold and Weber Bluedog. I did expect these two amps to be so wildly different. I must say that I do prefer the Z over the Bassman. It has a lot more headroom, an absolutely amazing reverb. I'm going to see if I can trade in my Splawn + 2x12 for the head. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get rid of my Z 2x12 w/ blues and get the 4x10 or keep the 2x12 and swap the speakers. I did find the 4x10 had a lot of low end, maybe too much.

If I decide to keep the 2x12 what speakers should I get? I'm using it with a Stangray as well. I was thinking of a Weber Blue Dog and maybe an american voiced speaker too like the Weber 12A125

I just recently picked up an ezg 50 with a 4x10. great amp. Im also going to start using a 2x12 cab to mix things up a bit that I can use with both my ezg and maz jr. Im going with a 2x12 combo of a weber blue dog and a weber silver bell.

I did end up buying the EZG yesterday. Well, a trade in + cash. I like it a lot more with an open-back 2x12. Played in through a Two Rock cab in the store and loved it. Then I took it home and played it through my 2x12 with blues (at low volumes) and like it even more. I found the 4x10 had too much low end for my liking.

I had an EZG a few years back (GREAT amp!), and I tried it every which way...
Z 4x10 2x12's 1x12's...
I liked 12" speakers the best, but it depends on the sounds you want.

I bought my EZG with matching Z 4x10 cab and couldn't bond with the tens. I tried it with a Z-best and really liked it, but then I ran it 2x12 golds and oh my. Even one 12 gold sounded great. She's a fine amp.

I generally play it thru 2 cabs, a blue and a gold.
After reading another thread about compression on a Maz, i decided to try another setting,
Pre at either 3 o'clock or maxed and post just cracked open, due to the power/loud.
What a beautiful clean tone, with a thumping beautiful base.
Treble, 12, base 12, mids 10
