Thinking about getting a Black Falcon to mate with my EZG, anyone ever played this combination?

No but it sounds like a great idea to me!

I believe forum member EZGbiscuit ( Jon ) runs this exact combination. Maybe he'll chime in.

Brian Setzer, with flat wounds, playing jazz on the EZG, beautiful sound.
Actually the BS gretsch is a great rocka a billy and and great jazz guitar.
Both styles with the EZG.

Love the Black Falcon with just about any amp. It's spectacular with the EZG. Wish I could lower the trem arm a bit, and I'm not crazy about the roller bridge--too many moving parts kills sustain-but it's such a gorgeous object that none of that matters much. Look into the Setzer or Setzer hotrod, though, if you're thinking of this as a stage rig.

Sounds good, what do you think of the Duane Eddie model? I know it is a different beast but soundwise does anyone have a comparison they wish to share?

Haven't played one but I love a P-90. If I was going to get another Gretsch, though, I'd go for the tiger maple Setzer (not the Hotrod) or a Reverend Horton Heat model. And I'd learn some rockabilly licks to go with them!

I had a BS model but could not get a good twang out of it. It did play beautifully though. I would like my next Gretsch to have a laquer finish versus a urethane finish though.

jlc, Are those combos you would like to hear or things that have actually happened? If so please post links! I own the brian setzer and ezg, and play them together both types of music, mostly with flat wounds and jazz. While the stability of a bigsby is not nearly as good as a stop tail, i like adding small dynamics offered by it. Round wounds for a rock a billy brighter tone.

I just ordered a Duesenberg Starplayer TV in Black with a gold pick guard, it should sound very cool through the ezg!!

Just got the Doozy and I must say that it sounds and plays incredible!! Maybe due to the "new toy" effect but so far it have exceeded my expectations. Then again, playing any guitar through the EZG makes em sound great...

After having owned several Gretschs, I've found that, as far as the live gig goes, the trestle bracing helps sustain and controlling feedback more than the simple sound post. Jazz, or lower volume, probably not an issue...
