Yea, they suck alright. So bad I have a PT2, a Jr, single case, a double case and a flight case from them. I had a handle from the soft shell case from my Jr pull out a bit and they replaced it free of charge. They've always been aces in my book. I have a Dunlop power supply brick go bad, I never contacted them about it, so I guess that makes Dunlop suck too.

I own a Volto. It is mounted to the bottom of a PT Nano.
I primarily use it for rehearsals, but have used it for small gigs and jams.
It has always performed flawlessly; You can do two, three set gigs with power to spare before charging. No noise issues to report.

I've always liked Pedaltrain boards but have not tried a Volto. I'm sorry to hear it has been discontinued because I was interested in it. They must have had problems with it to do that. No reason to trash the whole product line though.

I love my Volto. Not sure why they discontinued them. I heard a rumor that they are working on a replacement possibly? It is such a cool concept. No need for AC nearby.

I checked my last post on this thread. I've now been using the Volto for more than a year without any issues. I always carry a 1Spot in the pedalboard case as insurance.
My gigging board doesn't have any pedals that place unusual demands on the power source, so I can't opine on its suitability for everyone.

I hope they bring them out again , I'd like to get one.I think it was Panasonic that had something similar , the Pedal Juice (? )and that appears to be extinct too. I love my Pedaltrain board and their customer service is , in my experience , outstanding.

I love my Pedaltrain board and their customer service is , in my experience , outstanding. I had the Sanyo Pedaljuice before the Volto. It didn't last long before it died. It was a lot larger than the Volto also. I am very surprised there isn't a better solution on the market for lithium ion batteries for pedals. Finding power up front at gigs is sometimes hard. With all of the advancements with battery technology for power tools, you would think some would spill over to pedals.

Now that I’ve been using the Volto for the last couple years I have to say it is one of the best things I have ever purchased (music gear-wise). I love being able to drop my board and go. Charging has never been an issue as long as you do it.
Only issue I had is the charging port on one broke. But my friend was able to fix it really well. I admit I was a little heavy handed with it, so it was more of a “me” thing. That would be the only area for improvement but again just don’t be too heavy handed!
I know it is an old thread just wanted to pass along the beta about using it for some time.

Works great when I just want to power a pedal and not unscrew the back cover.

Mine's still doing great. I haven't done a single gig without it since I got it. Indispensable part of my rig.

My gigging board doesn't have any pedals that place unusual demands on the power source, so I can't opine on its suitability for everyone. Update: Recently I have had two Strymon pedals on my board. The Volto will power them, but the current draw is so high -- the board is pulling between 600 and 700 milliamps -- that the Volto will not last through two 75-minute sets. 1Spot back in service.

The last thing I need in my life is one more rechargeable device that I remember needs charging at the time I’m trying to use it. 😏

I don’t use any strymon pedals or big draw pedals. Lately I have been using Wah, Model G, boilingpoint, tu-2, Phase 100 and either a reverb or pedal (depends on amp). Hours of use, I do turn it off for set breaks just incase.

I emailed Pedaltrain this November 2018 and asked why all the dealers said they were no longer available. I received a message back from Pedaltrain and they said in the next couple of weeks there will be a updated model coming out for the same price as the prior Volto.
The new updates will include holding charge even longer and have more output options as well. Oh and it will be GREEN:). I will definitely be picking up another when they release the new model in December 2018. I really have had no problems and think there great for smaller boards and less risky gigs. Very nice unit…

UPDATE: I've had my Volto mounted under a PT nano for a few years now. Bought it shortly after its introduction. It's seen numerous pedals. Works flawlessly except when I forget to charge it, but as Eric pointed out it still powers your pedals while charging. Satisfied owner.

Considering I’d always have an amp (or 2) at the gig then I need power anyway, and I can just use a splitter or power strip to give me a line to the board. I guess I’m not quite understanding using one large battery for the pedals and risking it instead of using wall power. Seems like there’s always power available unless it a “pure” acoustic gig (no amp, no PA) or you’re busking on the street. 🤔

One less cable to carry (maybe 2) No grounding noise problems. Very helpful on multi-band gigs (quicker on and off stage) and saving weight if you have to carry all of your stuff in one trip.

How do you guys use this thing? I would think plugging in your pedal power cord into an outlet would be much less time consuming than unpacking your board at home, plugging the Volto into power, charging it, and then packing it all up again to take to the gig. Sure, it would save time over changing batteries, but I don't see how it wouldn't consume MORE overall time than say, using a VL Pedal Power type unit. What am I missing?

I guess what you are missing is the fact that you don't have to run any power cables to your pedalboard at all no matter what the setup at the gig. The Volto is velcro attached under my Nano board. It charges quickly via a USB connection. I play a lot of gigs and most of them are with more than one band on the gig. Time between bands is a factor. With the Volto no matter what the power setup at the club I know I can set down my pedalboard, plug it into the guitar and the amp and it is ready to go. I don't have to look for an outlet. I don't have to bring an extension chord. At the end of the set I unplug my guitar and amp cables and slide the board in the bag. In my practical experience this saves me time and means I'm carrying less cabling. My big board uses a regular power supply. For that one I carry a loom with cabling. Here's the Volto underneath my Nano board.

This is my thought. I’d HAVE to carry an extension cord (plus the USB adapter and cable) as a backup in case the Volto wasn’t charged or had some problem - so all I’d really save is the 30 seconds of running the drop cord to my board.
Different strokes and all that. I just don’t trust batteries in critical situations if I don’t have to (I went back to a Bullet coily cable instead of wireless for this reason).

I've been using these things since they came out. When I've gone to Europe I have brought 2 Voltos with me. All I can say is in practicality they have worked very well for me. But most of my gigs are not the type where we have lots of time to set up and and tear down plus I know you guys are tired of hearing it from me but I have to carry everything, guitar, pedalboard, amp and Merchandise in one trip so I'm very careful about carrying extra stuff or extra weight.

For my use it's the portability and ease of set up. There's no finding an extension or strip to plug into and no need to worry about depleting it in the length of a show. I have the first generation Volto and it works great for my nano and nano+ boards. I don't use high current draw pedals or more than five for any gig I do. If I were using a larger board then I'd go for a PP2 or Cioks Adam. I did put a Cioks five banger on my nano+ solely for using an 18V pedal which comes and goes on my board. For convenience you can't beat the Nano.
