So I bought it finally after researching amps for a year and went for the EZG-50 head, and wanted the dr Z 4x10 but peach guitars are we're out of stock so had a 2x10 self made with C10q's but was a bit deflated and then found a custom 4x10 bassman style pine cab with P10r's, pugged in and was and still am blown away!!!!!! I don't need anything else accept another ezg with a 1x15 cab if I could! Couldn't believe what I was hearing, I've never heard my guitars tone so revealed! Am curious how the Z 4x10 compares to this custom one I have?

Congrats on the amp. Big sound!
Can't offer anything on the sonic comparison. Perhaps you could post a sound clip.
Just curious/cautionary about one thing: Some Fender-style 4x10s present 2-ohm loads to an amp. The EZG can handle 4-ohm cabs, but not 2-ohm. The mismatch of lower impedance cab to higher impedance output jack on amp can damage the amp.
If you do have a 2-ohm cab, it likely can be re-wired -- not hard to do -- to present a matched load to the EZG.

I've always wanted to try the Z-28 and now the EZG through a 4x10 but my tweed bassman and super reverb are both long gone. As a mostly basement player, I have no need for a 4x10 cab or amp anymore. I am reluctant to ask one of my gigging friends who still play these amps if I can temporarily rewire them to 4 or 8 ohms just for a test run.

Absolutely a big sound : ) Yea will get round to posting a video clip of it. Could question regarding the impedance, luckily the cab came fitted with a little box with a switch for choice of 2-ohms or 8-ohms so made sure it was on 8-ohms presuming this switch is designed ok :s

I know it's been said quite a bit but the EZG-50 really seems like it's at home with a 4x10 in terms of channelling the tone and character of the amp and your guitar(s). And also cutting through a band in a live situation too. I'm sure it sounds good live with a 2x12 as have heard it through a custom 2x12 with jensens and is more like a twin reverb vibe but I love bassmans and super reverbs so just that tightness from the 10" speakers with the spank and tone that the EZG does in such a big way. I can't stop smiling after I switch it off! I have access to vintage 67 and 68 twin reverbs, and a 68 super reverb, but just couldn't carry any of them all the tim out of the car/down gig stairs as had a back operation 3 years ago so very grateful for such a bad arse amp that is manageable.. And cab is lighter than the head lol

I know i say this everytime I get a new Z but I really think the EZG is my fav with the Z28 as a close second. I use a 2x10 Z cab with my EZG but i have tried a v30 a Celestion gold and the EZg sounds fantastic with all speakers. I don't have a Z 4x10 but I would love to try the EZG with that cab
