Thursday night I saw a blonde Rt. 66 on Ebay for a short time - the seller (who I think used to be a member here) was selling this fine looking amp for $800.00 BIN. I couldn't act quick enough as far as scrapping up some cash but I was just curious if someone here was the lucky buyer - that was just a ridiculous price (and 20 bucks shipping CONUS).

That was mine. I'm clearing stuff out to pay for dizeased PRS. I wound up taking an offer. Not sure if a bruvva or not.
I still have 2 Maz 38s and my GT, and I'm still here. Going to all PRS DGT/Dr Z guitars/amps.

That's funny. When I first heard about Dr Z back in 08 it was Mike Fullers description of the Rt 66 that captured my attention - but my first Z was a Maz 38, and you have two of them. But to this day that description and a few tone clips still haunt me. When I saw your amp listed I freaked. But I do have a Remedy - BUT I DON'T HAVE A 66.

I got it. Going to run it 1x12 with a cream back. Hope it's a good one. Have they changed much 2007 to now?

Congrats hartman on the purchase and welcome to Z-Talk. I don't think that the Route 66 has changed all that much since '07. The only thing that I can think of is the kind of rectifier Doc uses now versus then. Doc was sending them out with 5AR4 rectifiers for a long while, but has started sending them out with 5U4 recs for a couple years now. The amp can use either one with no problem - it is your choice for the type of sag you want. If you like a loud, tight amp, use a 5AR4. If you want more sag in your amp, keep the 5U4 in there. I personally like the 5U4. I think that it helps the amp "bloom" beautifully.
I love my Route. I hope you enjoy yours too!

Congrats Hartman on a great score of a killer amp, and it should clean house with a Creamback I'm guessin'. Give us a report when you have time.

I used a Brakelite on 2 most of the time with it and ran everything at noon. I was sorry to let it go... but with the new PRS DGT and three other Zs that all run 84s... this was the one I really had to sell. It was THE go to while I had it, but the 38s and the GT are great amps too.
