Hi guys,
I'm just about testing a 5Y3 rectifier in my Maz 8 (Scumnico loaded), in order to soften things out and make my amp a little quiter. While ordering NOS 5Y3, i may want to upgrade to NOS all the tubes in this amp, or at least the ones which would make a change, but i realize i don't know what role each Maz 8 tube has. Would someone explain it to me? Thanks.

Nobody can help? I already know about the power (v6) and rectifier (v7) tubes, but I'm confused about v1, v2, v3, v4 and v5.

You're gonna have to be a little patient - it is the weekend before the holidays and I'm guessing a lot of people are busy elsewhere. Some one will post a response here in the next day or two I bet. Here's a link to the section on tubes from the Dr. Z website until you get a response. drzamps.com/tube_info.html

Hi Mike,
Thank you. I guess I am not the most patient indeed: I wish I could order my new tubes soon. But, you're right, people must be quite busy these days, so I'll wait and read the tube section of the forum, which I missed! Cheers.

Was wondering the same thing as the OP. If anyone happens to know the function of V1-V5 in the Maz 8 ? Thanks Brian

I've never owned one but if it's configuration conforms to the rest of the MAZ amps here is what you have: V1-1st gain stage V2-2nd gain stage V3-reverb send V4-reverb recovery V5-output tube driver

Thank you Zpilot , I wrote Dr. Z before your response and you are correct. V1= Input gain stage V2= Tone stack driver V3= Reverb driver V4= Reverb recovery V5= Output tube driver V6= Output tube V7= Rectifier Brian

Hey easyrom, do you notice any difference in tone with your attenuator?
