Well I am now a proud member of the Z family!
I just got my MAZ 38 NR 1x12 in black yesterday. It is secondhand and the serial is: T20262. (Any info on this would be cool!)
I have a couple of questions;
1) After watching many videos on youtube I was surprised how little gain this particular one seems to have. Even with the all the controls (exept the master) dimed it has very little break up. Its just starting to grind, i was kind of expecting to be in classic rock territory. I have looked at the tubes and they are all ECC83 or 12AX7's, not a 12AY7 in sight. I predominantly play clean (ish) so this is not a massive issue and I have a ton of overdrive pedals. But sometimes one just needs to give it the beans
2) I there a way to give it a little more power sag or compression as it does feel kind of stiff and spikey. I know that its 38watts but maybe there is a way without attenuation to soften this beast just a little (btw,isn't this sucker loud).
I am happy with this amp but a little while ago I tried a Carmen Ghia which I absolutely loved but a big bill came in and ended up with not enough money! Well 6 months down the road and this came along and it was cheap and I got a great deal on all my old (lesser amps) so I had to go for it! If the right Carmen Ghia head or MAZ 18 comes along I think I could get a straight swap with this amp if I don't really bond with it.
I had a look in the chassis and I have to say what a beautifully built amp. So pleased to finally have a properly built piece of equipment.
Happy Chrimbo all
