I agree that not much comes close to achieving that raw sound from just pushing the power tubes BUT, I find many situations where the additional bit of help from a pedal (in my case an OCD) gets me to that sweet spot in a band setting without being over powering.

King of Tone, or, lately a Lovepedal Eternity burst. I run an OCD also, but have it set up for fairly heavy drive. Replace the Lovepedal mentioned above with one of these: www.fredric.co.uk/zombie-klone. Picked up in trade a couple months ago. Really like it with my Ghia and my Swart.

Well...just picked up the Xotic AC Plus... I think it going to replace several of my pedals. Really works well with the Ghia!

Providence SOV-2 Stampede OD; beautifully made, and very controllable, to give excellent definition but with more girth to one's lead tone...however, my old Lovepedal Amp 11 was also righteous (I notice Sean's making them again, albeit with gold livery), but that left the house in a pedal clearout needed to fund something else (can't remember what). Am I fickle or what?

The Way Huge Red Llama and Pork Loin have been working well for me. The Pork Loin has always interested me because it has a mix knob kinda thing on it like a delay. Am I right on remembering it like that?

The Way Huge Red Llama and Pork Loin have been working well for me. The Pork Loin has always interested me because it has a mix knob kinda thing on it like a delay. Am I right on remembering it like that? Yep that's it exactly. Hands down best pedal I've bought in years. I've seriously considered buying a second one so I can have one dedicated to bass and guitar. I play with a guitar player who uses his in front of whatever amp is in the practice space for the other band he's in. He says it can make any amp usable. Even the worst ss amp. I leave it on all the time with my bass rig, and use it for a drive and/or boost pedal with my guitar amps. The mix ("clean" knob) and curve control make it fit with every amp I've tried. There's a few internal knobs also...so it takes a little time to get those set to your preference. But once you do the clean and curve knobs are where it's at. Highest marks.

I'm new to the Ghia club but so far it seems to take everything I put in front of it. I usually leave my RC booster on all the time and either use a Wampler Plexi or Paisley Drive. For gigs we mike the amps so I'm luck to get it up to around 10 o'clock onto the volume.
I'm hoping to pick up a brake lite so I can dig into some of the amps natural od! Living in the city limits with elderly neighbors makes that kinda tough.

I use my Ghia with two Bearfootfx pedals: the Model G plus the Baby Pink Booster. Sounds great!
