Just curious to see what an average charge would be to have an amp tech check and bias tubes.

I just bought tubes online for my Z28, Route 66 and KT45 from the tube store, took the amps to my tech, and he charged me $20 for each amp to put the tubes in and bias them.

That's a bargain for fixed bias amps. Cathode bias amps don't need re-biasing but some amps require some disassembly to install the tubes and I like to monitor the amp for a while to make sure the new tubes don't redplate or anything else unpleasant. I also like to take a look inside to make sure certain components aren't damaged. If the tech does all this then it's well worth $20. If not, you could do it yourself.

I posted recently on another thread regarding doing my own work on my guitars - actually NOT doing it. I wouldn't know if stuff inside an amp's guts was damaged or not. You may tell me that it would be easy if I tried it; nope, I've been playing fifty years, professionally since I was 14, and I still regard stringing a guitar without a problem a major achievement.
Hopelessly unmechanical, I'd probably electrocute myself trying to mess with an amp
I've dealt with this particular guy for a number of years and sent him a good bit of business, so I have a lot of confidence in in him.

Sounds like you have a good working relationship with this fellow and you should continue it.
