I bought locally because it's not often one can test drive/acquire such a relatively rare Z amp. It's a keeper unless I can trade for a KT-45. I just dig the 45 more.

Here is mine but the way the controls are shown is not where I set them There is a larger photo of an incarnation of Brad Paisley's rig a few years ago at www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/images/BP100205_005.jpg where you can see the same Delta as shown below when I was going to try it out for Randall, Brad's pedal steel player. This shot was before soundcheck. Another reason I had my '88' there was that Brad had a complaint about his and from his complaint it was nothing more than a bias issue so I wanted him to be able to A/B my amp and his amp. After this was done the bias on his red one was raised from 28mA to 50mA where mine was set. I think that is also my KT45 in the shot as Gary Hooker's at that time was usually on stage rather than in the backline and that is the color of my pilot lamp on my '45' and there is a slight tolex boo-boo that I recognize These photos were taken before V1 was replaced

Lefty, that's awesome, man = congrats! I think you'll like it. You'll have to post a pic of that beauty.
I got mine back today and almost cried when I ran my Tim pedal in front of it and the 6545 simultaneously.

Great! But c'mon LL, it's better than the 66. Well...I have to give it some more time, but so far I like the 66 a little better. What I really like is the 66 and the 88 together. The 88 has a little bit of sparkle that the 66 is lacking. How long did you have your 66?? 1 week??

I agree that the 88 has more sparkle than the 66 and that's one reason I didn't keep the 66. The other is that the 66 was a little too saggy for me. I prefer my amps to have a "tight spank" to them.

The 66 is a "smokier" darker amp even with the treble control on 10. The Delta is a little "harder edged" and tight due to the solid state recto. I've got a particularly cool 66 (serial #8) with NOS preamp tubes, GEC KT66's (biased at 32mA), and a Mullard 5AR4 and so far everyone that's played the my 88 likes it even better than the 66. I like 'em both ;D
