Hello and welcome to the forum! A lot of good information and people here. I think a used Jaz 20/40 should be around $1,200-$1,300. (They don't come up often either!)

Jaguarguy thanks a lot, I tried some drZ (MAZ, Carmen Ghia), but didn't know about this model, and I love the blackface sound
I'll exchange it for a Matchless Clubman Reverb
See you around here, I'm gonna read all those fantastic threads

I think you'll like the JAZ - very cool amp! I got really lucky and paid less than $1,000 for my combo

Welcome to the forum from another JAZ fan and advocate. It's a versatile amp. I too love the blackface-type tones it can do, but there's a lot more in there. Once you get the amp, don't be afraid to try "crazy" settings of the knobs. I think you'll like the JAZ - very cool amp! I got really lucky and paid less than $1,000 for my combo That was truly a great d(st)eal!

Heads seem to be a lot harder to find than combos and sell for almost as much. I have several mistresses but my JAZ is my wife.

I'm losing too much exchanging it for a Matchless Clubman?
What do you think?

The Jaz is quite rare in the EU. The Clubman is still being build (to my knowledge) and you'll maybe get more money selling it. But how many opportunities you'll get to buy a Jaz in the EU?

Z Talk is likely the best source of info, as you're probably discovering.

Hi again!
Already got the JAZ 20/40 Head, i had my first gig with him last saturday It's not the most beautigul amp but it seems to work good
I played with a 2x12 Marshall with 2V30.
But I'll search a nice cab with the most suitable speakers
I search a rich, clean and full of tone sound, I think Ill go for Jensen alnicos
Any suggestion? Best wishes

I like my 2x10 way better than the 1x12 I had first. Especially for the cleaner stuff. My 10's are what Doctor Z sells.

Hi zpilot, thanks fir the answer The 2x12 Marshall 1916 with the 2V30 sounds a little unbalanced, with the bass frequences very loud and also too much high frequences. Does the 2X10 sounds thinner than the 1X12? My idea is to have a big cab for big gigs, and a small one for the clubs gigs. I play with a R4 Les Paul Goldtop and a Telecaster '51 Nocaster model Thanks a lot!!! Th

I don't know if I'd say it sounded thinner. It still has nice strong mids but just a little less harsh. My main guitar is also a Nocaster.

Perfect speakers? For 12" I'd have to go with Celestion Gold. There are a lot of guys on this forum who will agree with me.

Thanks a lot for the advice, Sadly, here is not so easy to test different speakers, so I'll try for the Jensen P12n, or Jensen P15n, that's what I found I did first three gigs with it, still with the 2X12 closed withs V30s, and its a hard fight agains unbalanced sound, I was used to a Blackface Bandmaster and gave me more defined sound. You know, sometimes those feelings are hard to explain, I feel too much bass but undefined, and when i go at some distance to check the sound, I find that sounds with a lot of treble. So I play with treble knob down and mids and bass high. The feeling at stage is not good, but I prefer that rather than too much treble. Let's see if Alnicos give me a better feeling There's some of last gig, the opening sound. I play all song with no pedals except second part of the solo, I push an old tubescreamer Cheers and sorry for my english! And this is wih the Bandmaster, at 5:00 you can hear the sound

After hearing your group I think you would love a 12" Gold. By the way, I was really digging your trio.

Nice clips!
Good luck on finding the right speakers for you. I've just been through three. The factory g12h, a celestion gold, and an EV. The gold was really nice sounding. But I stick with the EV. I do sometimes plug my combo into a 4-12 with greenbacks and it sounds really nice with those as well. Can you borrow any gear to try different speakers? Greenbacks should be easy to find in Spain to try out?
I am not very familiar with Jensen's, so can't help there.
Is that Marshall cab closed back? Have you tried taking the back off your cab? I'm not a fan of V30's in general. But they do sound better to me (personal opinion) in an open back cab.

Hey thanks to all for your kind words I'll try some cabs but its so difficult here to find good material to try i'll try some alnico stuff, an 1x12 open, and if I like the sound, i'll go for a 4x10 too But honestly I miss my 65 Bandmaster

You guys sound awesome!! I just switched from 2x10's in my JAZ to 1x12 gold and LOVE it. Much more full and musical. I also really like my Z-Best with the JAZ, but the v-30 is a little harsh to my ears.
Let us know what you try and how it sounds. Don't give up on the JAZ, it is one of the most under appreciated Z's in my opinion.

Ok, I'll try!
I'm between a Jensen P12N or Celestion Alnico Gold, but the problem with the Gold is its price, i'm searchin for a second hand one, i found a good priced Jensen...
Tranks and love for music!

I suspect the weber 12f150b would be really nice in the JAZ. Wish I would have tried it before I sold my JAZ.

Tranks and love for music! I felt the same way about the price of a Gold so I waited until a used one came up on this forum. It's now my favorite 12" speaker and it was already broken in to boot.
