Sold my maz 38 reverb ages ago and have missed it quite a bit. I'm looking into picking up one again and I don't really need reverb. I've read in a ton of places that the nr has more gain on tap, but my concern actually has to do with the opposite. Does the nr having more gain on tap mean it doesn't have the same amount of clean headroom or breaks up any earlier? I loved the cleans on my old 38 reverb model, and I don't really want to lose any of that headroom. Thanks in advance guys!

You wont lose any, and even if you did, it would be at such a volume most peoples ears would be blown off... I just picked up annother MAZ having made my way thru many Z'z, not a bad journey to take.. I love the NR model, I don;t know if it has more gain..maybe but boost up the midrange to compensate if you think you need to....tons more gain....no... that said, for me no reverb is just one less distraction in the circut...in the low imput with a Strat headroom for days if you want that...even with LP plenty of HR in low imput.. Frankly I pretty much crank the cut to noon-1 and adjust the EQ for the room and guitar...Master anywhere from 10-1..Volume up or down as needed...seems to be able to do just about anything...I have had alot of Z amps and for me, on shear versatility the MAZ38NR is hard to beat...it can do alot of different things as you know. I run mine thru a THD 2-12 with RedFangs.....also use a Z 4-10 on occasion when I really wanna get some of that SuperReverb stuff goin on...This is the Swiss Army knife of Z amps IMHO.... You
