I just picked up an Octapussy and I'm itching to play!!! I can't wait to hear this thru the Taz"Mini'ian Devil!
Double curious to hear what it sounds like feeding the TC Dark Matter.

Man, I've been pretty curious about this one. The demos sound great. I have a Foxrox Octron already though.
Report back!

Man, I've been pretty curious about this one. The demos sound great. I have a Foxrox Octron already though. Report back! Yeah, that Howard Gee is just like Andy at Pro Guitar!!! Both make some very compelling demo's!!! And while I have no illusions that pedals will magically transfer any of an excellent players tonal mojo I want to believe there are some pedals that, just as some amps, really do have a high WOW factor... especially if you have good pup>pedal>amp>speaker synergy. I had 10-15 minutes tonite to mess around and put the Octapussy in front of my backup practice Fender Mustang I set to Bassman emulation with a touch of reverb. When they say this thing is dynamic they aren't kidding! Small changes in the guitars volume knob make pretty drastic changes and sweeping thru various min-max permutations of the Gain, Body, and Attenuation knobs provided equal variety of tones. VERY SENSITIVE to pick attack as well!!! Certain setting have a very strong cleanish Ring Modulation type edge, while others provide very fuzzy and opaque octave where chords are indistinguishable but single note runs sound HEAVY, then tweak the knobs and the fuzz recedes slightly with increase in chord definition. Prior to this I had tried the Malekko Helium and after 2-3 hrs it was back in the box and the email for RMA was on its way. It was overly compressed, loss of low end, and never really impressed me with a variety of tone...only had two distinct tones, neither of which impressed me. I had played it through the same exact setup so it just didn't do it for me.
My initial impressions of the Octaopussy are BOY HOWDY!!! this is a keeper as it reminds me of the cool stuff you hear on Fuzz Factory demos but without all the in-between Jerry Lewis-meets-Pee Wee Herman-meets-BobCat Golthwaite on crack-tourettes outbreaks. It gets close to being weird at the extreme settings yet still maintains alot of options in between that promise unique but useable settings. Too early yet to say for sure as I have to get it in front of my Mini and hear what it sounds like running through the Dark Matter! Given its jekyll hyde tonal frollicy nature (high sensitivity to pick attack, guit volume, and knob settings) I'd say I'm going to have to break out a notepad and start marking knob settings. WAY COOL and NO BS HYPE thus far imo regarding claims made

Man, I've been pretty curious about this one. The demos sound great. I have a Foxrox Octron already though. Report back! Spent a couple late night hours noodling and a few things standout... I had mentioned it reminded me of fuzz factory demoes, and i still say it does but only so far as covering the ring modulation and octave effects. The fuzz effect is imo less prominent than the ring mod/octave. I switched the mustang to a high gain emulation (which i don't really care for) and it does give futher tonal dimension in how it interacts with the pdeal output. The tc dark matter provides an excellent buffet of distortion so i really want to hear how the two mesh. The sensitivity to pick attack and guit vol is most dependent on gain setting...anything past noon and away you go
