I am currently running my EZG 50 head through a Fender Ext cabinet with a Celestion G12 80p in it. I have been satisfied with the tone until today when.........I got a Maz-18 NR with the standard G12 H30. Just for kicks, I ran a cable from the Maz speaker to the EZG head and it was as if someone took a blanket off the speaker! Maybe its the open back on the Maz vs the closed back Fender cab but the sound is much clearer and more detailed and in the face than the G12 80p. So now I am thinking maybe I should replace the speaker in the Fender cab with something else and am looking for suggestions. I have a Eminence Cannibis Rex in a cabinet that I tried and it sounded harsh I am thinking something else in the Celestion line. Any suggestions???

If the Cannabis Rex felt a little harsh for you, try the Red White & Blues. (I've played both of these.) The RW&B is in very similar "American-speaker" territory, but a little softer, more bouncy (less hard) feel. I like it a lot.
From what I gather, the WGS G12C would be similar, although I cannot confirm because I haven't tried that one. But I do suggest the RW&B, either open- or closed-back.

I've got a Swamp Thang 16ohm 12 in this Stagecraft Elite cab, and it sounds very "Fendery" and it sounds great pushed into OD with dirt boxes.
