Hey guys, new to the boards and a new Z owner. Thinking about getting a Remedy or and SRZ-65 to fill my Marshall vibe. Already have a prescription es and a MAZ 38 invasion (old 94 model) with an Airbrake . Both of these cover most of my gigs right now with pedals , but my question is if I just need to rock with no pedals and cover classic rock to 80s heavier rock. Which amp is better in your opinion ? I know this is a very subjective question ,but I don't have a way to play either amp in person and I will have to order one. Have been scouring the Internet and you tube for sound samples but what's out there is limited, especially in regard to the newer Remedy with a master volume. So any thoughts from the board will be appreciated. Right now I am leaning to an SRZ, but really curious about the newer master volume model Remedys
Thanks
Alan

Don't overlook the Antidote - Doc's take on JTM45/50 - only better BTW - where do you live? Any chance you near S.E. Michigan? We'll have all those amps here next weekend (and then some) for miniZfest.

Thanks for the reply, in Birmingham, Alabama. Nearest z dealer is 1.5 hours away and nearest dealer with any real stock is 2.5 hours away. Been looking at the Antidote as well, but think I might have ruled it out due to the lack of a master volume. Already have two amps that I have to use the Airbrake with, so looking for a plug in play rock machine. I'm new to Z's, been playing a Bogner Ecstasy for 16 years and I think I'm having a mid life crisis, because I am selling it and bought the two z's I have now. Which has been an epiphany. Both Z's I have are articulate and tonefull. Just looking for maybe something that can cover the rock stuff without my huge pedal board. The amps I have cover my country /classic rock gig pretty good, but I do still play with an 80s band that requires a little more go, and I have never used pedals to get that tone. I prefer that straight into the amp tone I got with the Bogner for that. But that being said I am a Z convert and want another one to cover that stuff. Yes ,I am definitely having a mid life crisis for tone
Thanks,
Alan

The SRZ was my 1st Z amp, and still My #1 , it sounds Better with KT77's in the Power section, I have owned a Remedy too, While the New Mods to the Remedy are very appealing, the SRZ covers a lot of ground, From nice Cleans to Mean Marshally GRowl. The Harder its Pushed the Better It sounds also, I have one of the Big Box Heads and it has Reverb that is Footswitchable. It has one of the best Master Volumes out there, You can crank up the Gain and roll the Volume to any level from Practice to Big Stage Roar. Only you can decide which to go with , Bioth Are Amazing amps, Find a Dealer and Take your Guitar ,pedalboard, speaker Cab etc... and go test drive them Both. I have had my SRZ for going on 14 Years Not Once has it Failed me and Alaways sounds Amazing

Thanks guys, I've found one I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on. As far as the KT77's in the amp , does it need a rebiased or is the amp cathode bias like some other Z's ? I sold the bogner I had last night on eBay , so itching for something else.
Thanks again!

YES THE SRZ is a FIXED BIAS layout, Always set your Bias when Changing your PT's, 32-38 Ma is optimal. If you aren't comfortable doing the task, any good amp tech can do it. Congrats on selling your Bogner , Hope you land an SRZ!!!!n You'll love the SRZ, I had mine WAILING earlier so sweet through my 2x12 Z Cab!

Thanks again, you guys are very helpful! I see why the Z board is so well touted. I am going to hold off on the SRZ for now. Although I still want one badly, but I just picked up a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe pedal today, and oh man!, I can get Marshall all day long out of my MAZ or Prescription. It's a great pedal if you haven't heard it. The rig still doesn't have quite the bark an EL34 amp would have but it's close enough that I can't justify the extra grand or better for a used SRZ right now, but will have one one day. Thanks again guys, any thoughts on the pedal would be welcome too if you have any experience with it. No knock on the amp itself, just the Misses doesn't see why I need to spend an extra $1200-1900 for another head right now. Will keep you guys posted on the tone in the coming weeks since I'll finally be gigging again.
Your friend in tone, Alan
