My Pentode - Triode switch makes a loud popping noise when I use it. Is this normal, or is the switch bad. The manual says you can use the switch with standby off.

Hi Stephen, I believe it is normal. Same with my Maz 8, really creepy "popp".

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I like Triode mode when I play slide. I guess I will switch Standby on, wait a minute, then switch it so I don't have to hear it!

Yeah I've never played an amp with a pentode/triode switch that didn't pop between the two. I haven't played many but I've played a few and it was pretty loud on all of them.

When you think about it, your switching how the tubes are being used electrically, and changing the paths of the current, so put it in standby...
I remember seeing Dr. Z put it into standby when he demo'd the Galaxy so I put it in standby, just a smidgen more effort for safety sake.

Thanks, everyone. I really like this amp and want to take care of it.
