I took my new Maz 8 to a blues jam last night. I really liked the EQ bypass as a volume and tone boost on solos. It even made the reverb sound better. The only thing I don't like is the switch, which does not have a light. Could I use something like a Boss FS-5L? If so, what kind of cable would I use; instrument or speaker cable?

Should work fine. Guitar cable probably OK, just make sure it's a well-shielded cable as there have been reports of noise being introduced with poorly shielded cables.

The Boss FS-5L works great. And speaker cable works just the same as an instrument cable.

Hey Z folks,
First time Z owner here (just picked up a used Maz 8, black studio combo with S&P grill). The amp didn't come with a EQ bypass foot switch. Would a generic one (e.g., Hosa, or the like) work? Thanks.

Despite the replies to the contrary: again, use a well-shielded cable for this switch. If you don't there will be more hummmmm and you can pick up environmental noises as well. I put on a better cable than the one that the amp shipped with and the hum-level when used in my nice quiet music room dropped significantly.
