Auditioned a new singer with harp playing skills last week. I used the Antidote and my Lester for this recording which the singer recorded on his Android Tablet. Not too happy with what I'm hearing; still can't dial this baby in. Hopefully by Wed practice it'll be all good. Certainly not my finest guitar moment and its the first time with us doing this tune together so please pardon the lack of "cohesiveness" and miscues/missed changes etc....... Hey Steve - was that vintage setting? If so, Modern might give it a tad more bite. Also, on solos, have you tried EQ bypass? Not saying I could do nearly as good (to my ear it sounds like early Fleetwood Mac/Peter Green which I happen to really like) just a few suggestions to try.

^^^^^ Thanks for the suggestions Mike.
Haven't done anything yet relative to this recording Mike. It was with the amp straight out of the box with no time to play around.
Since then I've had a little time to play to see what the Vintage and EQ Bypass will do on my Clapton Strat only.
This was the first time I actually heard the recording which I think is definitely un-good. Didn't sound right at the time and sounds even further off listening to the recording (as it usually does).
We'll see what happens after doin' some more fiddlin' (did a complete front end tube swap yesterday)....
Maybe we can get together at the "Studio" to compare your Antidote to mine?

That sounds a whole lot warmer and fuller than I thought it would Steve, given your "middy" description, but I know what you mean when the tone just ain't right! I have to say, I'd be locking myself away in a sound-proofed room for a couple of hours, and start really messing with the Vintage/Modern and EQ Bypass switches, the Hi Volume, and that EC Tone knob too (that makes a HUGE difference IIRC from my EC Strat). You have a VERY Peter Green laid back tone going on there, and a good one too - maybe you want a bit more grit in your oyster?

Sounds good to me, Steve. Funny thing: I proposed this Peter Green song to my band on Monday night. One of the guys said why don't we just do the Howling Wolf song that this one's based on? I had forgotten how similar they were, just as I've forgotten the name of the Wolf tune

Well Mike was kind enough to come out yesterday afternoon, Antidote (Red of course) in hand to use as a comparison to my Antidote to see if I was crazy or not.
Well apparently I was not crazy, I was stupid! You see I was concentrating my efforts dialing in my Antidote with my Z-Best which seems to be the preferred cab with the Antidote.
When we plugged Mike's Antidote in my Z-Best we got the same, shall we say, less than stellar results. Clearly there is a problem with my Z-Best cabinet (DOH!) that I need to address.
We plugged both cabs into one of my 2x12 cabs with a Gold and G12-65 and they both sounded similar (KT66 that is as Mike, not being a mere mortal had a 34/66 switchable amp). Surprised? I think not!
Anyway the good news is we determined a couple of things that were suspected all along. 1) My Antidote is just as fine and healthy as a Antidote can be. 2) I am a turd.
Thanks a million for coming out Mike, you're the best!
Now its time to sort out what Mike called my Z-"Worst" cabinet. I'm hopeful its just a connection issue.....

Hope you get the Z Best sorted out, Steve. The Antidote kicks serious butt through that cab.

Yeah! Finally sorted. Turned out to be a high resistance connection from the speaker coil to the speaker lead mounting board on the G12H A couple minutes with the soldering iron and we're in business. ...and holy sheep shyte Batman, the Antidote with the Z-Best does indeed kick serious butt....all that I had hoped for. Good thing I had my Big Boy Pants on! Yes Mike I did some serious bonding at practice last night. Can't wait for next practice with the Z-Best.

Thanks for the speaker cab lowdown. I know all about those high resistance opens in the telephone cable repair business. Glad to hear the Antidote is all you had hoped for! I may break down and get me one of those ZBest one day. Rock on brother Steve!
