I've always loved Strats with my Ray. That's what sold me on the amp in the first place! But I've been ignoring her a bit lately in favor of my Orange RV50. I've been in a more "rockin" mood lately I guess. SO, yesterday on a whim I just plugged into my Ray, (Hi input - always!) through my Suhr Shiba - with the gain at 3:30 and the tone pointed just West of noon (on the pedal). The amp was at 2,4 & 3 L to R. Man! All kinds of tone heaven going on! I played for about two hours and only ever messed with the knobs on the guitar! It was a nice session for sure. Anyways, I generally read and hear about how the Ray is a nice clean/countrified amplifier. Well let me tell you - put a nice OD or (gasp!) distortion pedal in front of her and the Ray can really Rock. I think my speakers may have also hit that 100% break in point too - the amp is just sounding juicy sweet no matter what now. SO, just a little PSA for Ray owners - rough up those pretty tones in there! She can take it. And if you didn't know, Rays all secretly covet a good Strat style guitar, too! i probably shouldn't even discuss what happened when I plugged in my HH..............

I don't have a Strat to play thru mine but the Tele's love this amp. My Ray is a clean, countrified machine but it Rocks when I need it to. I push mine with a 65 Black OD, Wampler Paisley and a Durham Sex Drive and it will sound any way you want it to. Glad your still digging the Ray, I am a newbie to the Ray and Dr Z in general but I am sold on his amp. My speakers are hitting the 40 hour mark and I love em.. 2 Gold's..

Great post and would have loved to hear it live. I'm not familiar with the Shiba do like OD and Dist pedals into the Ray. And I do want to know about the HH....
