My apologies for the slang but that's what I would say disappointed me in the remedy when I played it and I'm looking at adding a z rig to my arsenal that has this side covered. I need an aggressive rock amp and I just didn't feel the remedy was it. Loved the way it sounded from a blues rock stand point but not what I was after. Does the antidote got me covered?

The Antidote is plenty ballsy, especially in Modern mode, but it's still an old-school sound.
Is the rock sound in your head a Marshall-type sound or something else? Both the Remedy and Antidote are in that zone, as you know.
Have you considered the SRZ-65?

Spot on. I am looking for that 70s thin lizzy rock sound but something I forgot to mention is that I played the remedy through a 4x10. I don't know if that would take the balls off but I figured it was only fair to mention it. Incredible sounding amp, just not what I was looking for. I haven't tried an SRZ. You recommend it?

I forgot to mention is that I played the remedy through a 4x10. I love the 4x10, but I prefer the Remedy and Antidote through a Z Best for rock tone. YMMV, naturally. I haven't tried an SRZ. You recommend it? I don't have direct experience of an SRZ-65, but the SRZ side of the 6545 screams.

Hummm....It depends on what you call ballsy- I say the Antidote has very large balls! Fat, heavy, thick hairy ones. But if you mean high gain, like the Doc said, this is not a high gain amp. But a boost pedal, EQ by-passed engaged and it is plenty enough high gain for me. I'm thinkin' Jailbreak... Or Johnny the Fox meets Jimmy the Weed. Like Mike said, this amp is like a first cousin to the Remedy. And I loved the tone of my Remedy, but it sounds almost harsh compared to the smooth, thick syrupy tones of the Antidote. My $.02

My $.02 I agree with Mark! The Three Remedy's I've had were great but ,a little harsh in the bridge pup; I was always fiddling with my tone controls. The Dote is not harsh at all. With Rem my Les Paul was always with both pups on even when I wanted the treble tones. With the Antidote every pup combination is Great. This amp is ALL SWEET SPOT Ya See ...Mark and I have had both. Twice over on the Remedy.

I KNOW where #1 is, & I SOOOO tried to get it B/4 THAT azzhole, but, alas..... OK..... I can understand, maybe not bonding w/the first one, & trying it again, but.... a THIRD time.... & STILL letting it go? Educate an old Geezer where your head was.

Since you asked...No I wont take your Rem from you, enjoy it. My bad 2 Rems and a Dote' First Rem went to Uncle Sam for pay for Taxes...I missed it so I got a second one from a fiend here on Z-Talk after I got on my feet...then sold it for a Ventura by 65amps which was my version of a 20 watt Rem with a mast voltage; kinda like the new Remedys. The Ventua was my # 1 for over a year...yes I liked it better than the Rem ( for me with my pedals)...Now, my Dote is my #1. If I can improve my tone or change my taste, I'm game for a new trail or back to an old one. I did not write the rule book, I just brake em'. From one Geezer to another. I have had 8 Zs over the last 8 years. Doc gets lots of business from me. I'm an old car man (I don't loose a lot of cash either. sometimes...I'm golden) I don't mind trading it keeps me going. Not my wife or child, yet. But stuff. I have been playing 48 years and still take guitar lessons. I've have had 100 guitars and 60 amps but waited to get married till I was 46. Lots of Tang too! LOL When I was single. Yep! my meds are kicking in I Hope that helps T-Rock. I'm a swapper....cept for my 17 year old Don Grosh (strat type). No new electrics lately. My Antidote is the Remedy in my head I had hoped for. That's my story. Cheers

I realized last night I should also have mentioned the Monza. Low power compared to an Antidote or SRZ but do not equate low power with quiet: the Monza is a loud beast.

I may be late jumping in here but , The Antidote has me GASSING BAD!!! LIke considering moving one of my Beloved amps to get one. DOCTORICE Nailed it, The Antidote is plenty BALLSY, However thats the Gloriuos thing with DR Z Amps, They have such Glorious TONE, If you need it to do more ??..... Thats why they make TONE ENHANCERS, AKA "STOMP BOXES" If this isnt your thing? The SRZ IS MIGHTY MIGHTY GAINY! especially when Pushed with a mild Boost, EP Booster, BB PREAMP, Timmy, etc.... I Have been a LOYAL SRZ DECIPLE FOR about 13-14 years its my go to amp, check out the SRZ Forum for further Detail, Bottom Line is , I had a REMEDY I didnt Bond with it but the ANTIDOTE? ITS The real deal and then some I think it would give you classic to Modern GAIN Tones with ease from any standard TS-9 or similar, Let us know what you end up with , the SRZ is a Fine amp too!
