How much like a Champ is it? AC4? GA-5? Bad Cat Mini? It's own thing?

Nothing like a champ. Dirt pedal with a speaker. I had the original for a few, years. Great amp tons of fun. It will clean up with guitar volume. Also I put a lower output preamp tube in mine which gave me a little more headroom

Cool; thx Rik. I'm curious as I've had a few vintage Champs and a Bad Cat Mini Cat (I prefer Bad Kitten though . I'll be doing lots of tube rolling I'm sure. It'll be in the living room at first: I have a 1x10 currently w/ a Greenback that's waiting for its new Mini monster

I recall the circuit being similar to an old single ended Gibson amp but with different tubes. I've been wondering how different it would sound with a tube rectifier and a 6V6.

Had a bit if time with my new little friend I popped in a new Tung-Sol RI 12AX7 and a Gold Lion EL84 and bolted her into the 1x10 cab w/ a greenback. The cleans are really nice actually (with the Tele). Nothing about her reminds me of Champ so far: the mids are totally different, texture of the breakup, and the brightness are all different. She does remind me of the Bad Cat Mini quite a bit. The Mini also appears quite a bit louder while clean than either of my previous 5 watters. Glad I can switch down to 4 ohms into the 8ohm greenback; this actually sounds really good at least in the house.
