I've had my Mazerati a couple of weeks, and have tried using it with my old marshall combo as a cab (212, Celestion speakers) which sounded ok. I've just bought a Laney 210 cab: www.laney.co.uk/show_prod.php?title=GS210VEI tried it at rehearsal last night and was a bit disappointed. Although it cut through well and had a pretty good distortion, the sound was too bright for my tastes, and there was not enough clean headroom - it was breaking up when the volume was under halfway. Generally, it just didn't sound big enough to me. Do people think I'd be better with a 212 cab? Would this be likely to sound bigger and warmer? Thanks!

You'll get a richer sound. But don't just settle on any cabinet. All of the better cabs use a baltic birch soundboard and high quality speakers. Dock66 is right about the Z Best cab. It's one of the best cabs out there. It's loaded with 2 different Celestions for a well balanced sound. Not cheap ... but you get what you pay for, and you can find a preowned one on any of the forums or eBay.

I don't have a Mazerati, but I have a Ghia and a Maz 38 SL, and I use either a Mesa 3/4 back with a pair if Eminence Texas Heats, or a Z Best ported and closed back with the Celestion 12H30 and another Texas Heat. The Z Best is a monster cabinet, best I've ever owned, and the 3/4 back Mesa isn't bad at all either when I need a smaller package. And Avatar makes some very nice 2x12s from what I've heard, and at great prices.
