So I've been trying a few external cabs with my Mazerati 1x12 combo.. an Earcandy, JDesign, Emery, and a couple others. What I've realized when A/B'ing the cabs with the combo is the Z combo cab is the best sounding speaker cabinet I own or have access to. Even with the exact same speaker, it sounds much bigger and better in the combo shell.
I'm wondering if the double baffle panel design the doc uses is responsible for this, or if he nailed the dimensions/materials etc. Do the Z extension cabs use the same double baffle? Is this what's referred to as "lens technology"?
Whatever it is, it sounds flippin' great! I was thinking about picking up a Ghia head and cab to go along with my rati, but after hearing a bunch of other cabs fall short, I'm going with a combo.

Agree. I've had the same experience with my Maz Jr Combo. It's loaded with a Greenback. I haven't swapped speakers, but my other Greenback/Cabinet isn't as full.
