I think the Antidote looks amazing and I was wondering if anyone has both of these amps? I have a Germino Classic 45 and I would love to compare the two. Similarities? Tonal or feel differences and/or overlap? Overall loudness with Z-Best or Greenback 2x12 or 4x12 perhaps?
I'm seriously considering the Antidote to pair with my Classic 45 and I was thinking that the Antidote (with KT-66's) and the Germino (6L6's) might pair well or who knows, maybe they sound kind of the same. Opinions?

Ditto. Personally though, I'd like to know about the Antidote vs. the Marshall Vintage-Modern series, as well. Both are KT-66 power sections, both have dual hi/lo volumes, and both even have a vintage/modern switch. (I hope to finally play an Antidote the next time I visit Jaguarguy's place.)

I just got an email from the Z brother I got my Antidote from. He and I are considering trading his Germino C45 for my (his old) Antidote. His $0.02 on how they compare (he plays them live too) (hope you don't mind my posting this J!): "In a nutshell- Germino-- no master, but less headroom than the dote. More manageable volume. Antidote- WAY louder!
Germino-- more of a vintage feel Dote- spankier, faster, a little brighter cleaner.
They are real similar, but the attack and feel are a lot different. I think the Germino gets a little dirtier. And it gets there at a better volume."I'm leaning toward the trade b/c as much as I love the 'Dote, it's foolishly too much power for my needs The 'Dote is 45 watts clean I believe whereas the C45 is more like 33w.

I was in a bit of a hurry when I typed that. I was on lunch break.
For starters, The antidote to me is much louder, especially if you want that edge of breakup thing everybody wants. And if you want serious dirt, it's LOUD. But it's oh so good! It's got faster attack, even in vintage mode. Dote has tighter bass, but maybe not as much low end if that makes sence?
The germino has more of a vintage feel, but when cranked, I think it has a more modern over drive sound. Not like Mesa or anything, but like maybe a late seventies jmp. Just not nearly as loud. It's really dynamic with a strat. Spanky almost chimey gritty clean when soft strumming, and smooth over drive when digging in. And that's when you can really "feel" the amp. It gets this awesome tube sag feel thing going on when you really dig in a chord or double stops.
Both cover similar tonal ground. The biggest difference is the feel and of corse volume and the dote being a little brighter. Both take pedals extremely well. Both have knarley dirt, and nice cleans.

Side note: I think the antidote cleanish with the germino cranked in stereo would kill! But it would be loud and proud!

The difference between 45 watts and 33 watts is going to be just a couple of db. You can get a 3db drop on the Antidote with one click on the Airbrake. I know guys complain about using attenuators, but seriously, one click is all it takes to go from 45 watts to 22.5 watts.

I think the Antidote looks amazing and I was wondering if anyone has both of these amps? I've had both and Joey's description above is spot on. The Germino has more vintage feel and the Antidote is much tighter but still FAT! Z is way more powerful. Seems like more of a wattage difference than 15 watts. Both great amps.
