I recently bought a s/h 4x10 cab loaded with alnico Jensen P10R's, made by Dennis Cornell. It is open backed and I got it for larger venues where I wanted my Z-28 to move a bit more air. It was a disappointment right from the start, although quite loud, very pretty sounding at the top end it was way too thin and not a lot of air was moved. I had a Marshall 4x10 years ago and it sounded great, I never even looked inside it though.
It was a bit of a spur of the moment buy (ebay of course) and I should have done my homework on the P10R's, and I am thinking of fitting different speakers. Or I could sell and move on. Any suggestions?

Why not Z 10's? I think he'll sell them direct. I think he worked with Webber on the creatin of the 10's.

I don't think Doc sells loose speakers, but you can move that cab and grab a Z 4x10

Nobody ever said a tweed Bassman sounds bad with 4 Jensen P10Rs. Your Marshall cab was closed back. That will always have more bass. If your back is removable you could try making a plywood closed back.

Hmmm... fit a closed back - thats a good suggestion (and inexpensive!). Shouldn't be a problem making up a trial one to see how it sounds. Thanks Billyguitar!
