The tolex on my '65 Vibrolux (sorry Doc, but I do love my Maz 38 2X12) is pretty chewed up, and I'm thinking of getting it recovered. Anyone know of someone who will do a good job reasonably fast and not charge an arm and a leg?

Not sure on price, etc. but Headstrong amps restores them. But since it's bothering you...and I love beat up crap...I'll buy it so you don't need to worry any longer

I have a similar situation only I have a blond RX ES head and a green 19x19 cabinet. I have been dreaming of the cabinet in blond with oxblood grillcloth. Who knows who can do this so it looks like it came straight from Dr.Z? Tolex does not seem to be as tough as the stuff on the Z gear. Is this called Levant?
Referring to the responses above, does anyone have phone numbers for Greg Hopkins or Headstrong amps?

Hey Curt, Thanks for the info. Greenie and my RX ES (one of the ones in the pic you saw belonged to another band member but it was the one that helped me decide on the RX vs the Stang Ray for right now, believe me, the SR is on the list) are the best rig I have ever played. I have a black open back cab with a Weber Blue Dog but I like greenie better. Maybe because it's been so nicely broken in by its many previous owners. Anyway I think if I could blond it, to match the Rx head, it would look as sweet as it sounds. One of the forum members has a blond avatar 2x12 head/cab. That's a mighty perty pic. But Bill turned me on to the 1x12" idea affectionately called the "Honey I shrunk the half stack" setup. You gotta have the 19x19 cab to do it though.
I assure you Bill is doing great with the Kinman's and I'll let him know you asked. He is the rig master, been through more amps and guitars than anyone I know. I have dubbed him the DR. Z regional sales mananger for all the Z promo he's done (unpaid of course). It took a lot to change me from Fender, so now I have a nice new Twin '65 RI and Vibrolux for sale...

Rockstok, ahem...you've played thru that blond RxES head before! And ...if I'm the "rig master", then Curt is the "supremo extrodianiare rig master". Not many can keep up with 'ole Curt O when it comes to buying & moving gear!
Looks killer teleking! That 1x12 rig is really sweet ;D

Thanks for the Gregg Hopkins site BW. His site looks great and he details the process so people can understand all the work involved. Stripping the cabinet has to be most of the work and from a person who has only stripped wallpaper and a kitchen floor, it ain't much fun. I was Jonesing for it so per Z's suggestion I sent it to Mojo Musical aka Mojotone in NC. They do some of the Z cabs so I figured they'd be a good way to go. Price a little higher, turnaround a little quicker.
Also thanks for the pics Teleking36. That's the look III'm talkin' 'bout. Classic! Just for grins I'd like to see a rig master's or a supremo extradinaires' chronology of rigs owned. I bet that'll put alot of us GASsers in prospective.

Just wanted to let y'all know. When I sent the cab to Mojo Musical they told me expect a 30 day turnaround. They called me yesterday and it's already done. Sweet! It should be back in my hot little hands today. Can't wait. Oh by the way, thanks to Madison's heads-up I now own a Blond/Black Stang Ray head. Glad I saved a few bux on the recover job.
