Just curious about the kt 45 for rock and heavy rock....I plan on getting another Z soon and so far I can't even narrow down my choices at all. Every single Z is a competitor except for the route 66 since I own it.
So what I'm wondering is if the kt is way louder than the 66 and mainly if it has that huge church bell like chime and tone of a hiwatt since I often see the two compared?

Love the KT 45 - here's a link to a Gearmandude demo of the Katie. Does a good job of showing what it can do.

I've just placed an order for one myself. Gonna be using it for old school 77 style Punk Rock. Annoyingly it's a 6 - 8 week wait here in the UK from the only dealer I suspect there's not many over here which gives it extra kudos I reckon.

Right now I have a route 66 that I love but am wondering if the KT45 would be better for me since I am mainly a less paul user....I sometimes find the route lacking glass even with the bass rolled way down and treble way up. I like a very bright live jimmy page tone. Kinda like the song remains the same sound.

I started with a Mazerati then switched to a Route 66.. Now have the KT-45 as well. Go for it. Glassy and punchy. Completely different animal than the Route and a great compliment. It does get some gorgeous overdrive but I've only been able to run it through an attenuator as this thing is loud.
Route breaks up with humbuckers around 11 on the volume. KT breaks up around 2-3 on the volume so lots of headroom.

Have you seen the one on The Gear Page? Great price with a road case and wood valence. No affiliation but I'm a fan of my KT-45. Traded it away twice looking for the perfect amp but it kept calling me back.

I like a very bright live jimmy page tone. Kinda like the song remains the same sound. The KT is much brighter than the Route. (Almost everything is.) And it has a different character. The KT is definitely in the Hiwatt/Vox camp not in the Marshall camp at all. IIRC The Song Remains the Same movie doesn't have that Hiwatt/Vox sound. I associate "glassy" with blackface Fender tones; the KT won't give you those. But if you want the chime of a Vox AC30 or 50 with the punch of a Hiwatt it'll have that. Think Townshend more than Page. Don't let the wattage numbers fool you - the KT is a bit louder than the Route, but not that much. You'll find it much cleaner, though. So, you'll have to crank the KT more to get the sweet crunch. At that point the amp is pretty loud.

Annoyingly since I placed my order our drummer has quit so opportunity to play at volume is gone for now :-( Obviously i've had a bash at home at low volume so as not to piss off the neighbours. I'd describe it as like nothing i've ever played through before; it almost wills you to crank it up :-) May have to take it to rehearsal studios on my own!!

I've owned both the KT and the Route. The KT is a little louder but not that much ( all other factors being equal). The KT has much more headroom. That'll keep it clean at louder levels. That can make it seem louder if you use the onset of dirt to gauge loudness. I don't know what church bell chime is exactly but the KT is Hiwatt-ish and Vox AC50-ish. So it's got a very British sound. Bright and rich but not like a Fender. When it finally breaks up it's fantastic but very loud. For me, I'd need a good attenuator for the KT because I love the KT crunch so much. Good ones are expensive.
