Does anyone have a single 12 inch speaker they use with a maz38, rt 66 and z 28?
I have a g12h in my z 1x 12 and it sounds great with the Maz, however, its a little dark sounding with the 66 and 28. I wish it were a little brighter with those 2 amps?
Would the celestion vintage 30 do the trick for all 3 amps? Thanks!

You might want to put your order in for a Celestion Gold. I will be running this speaker in my 1x12 with all my Z's

I use an alnico Tone Tubby with my Maz 38 sr and I'm totally satisfied with it.

A Greenback is sweet with the Z28 but at 25watts it wouldnt handle the 66 or 38. Im using a Private Jack in my Z28 now for increased clean headroom and like it pretty good...only downside(for me anyway) is that it seems to be more directional/beamy than the Greenback so Ive ordered a Beam Blocker to see if that helps on small stages.

I use one of the following depending on mood of the moment:
Weber blue or silver alnico or Tone Tubby alnico or ceramic. Any of these speakers give me all the tone I think I could possibly ever need to cover all the bases.

I agree with billyguitar on this one. I just picked up a red Z28 head and matching 1x12 cab. The cab has a Celestion greenback (English made). I tired both head and combo together and did not like the sound. My ES-335 especially in the treble area was brittle and beamy. I played the setup for about 20 minutes then plugged the head into my alnico Tone Tubby open back 1x12... BINGO... big fat sound, deeper bass, great treble and no brittleness or beamy tones, and just plain tone to die for. For those of you who tried tone tubbies 2 or 3 years ago and found them to dark, try them again, they have been redesigned with more highs even right out of the box. They have new voice coils that are much faster. Anyway my bid would be you try the tone tubby.

Excellent choice! Dope or no? I don't think it matters much if any. I have two alnico Weber's without dope and no problems so far and they are broken in that's for sure .

I have a zbest with the V30 & G12H--love the sound. But when I went to a 1x12 with just a V30, I didn't care for how harsh it sounded--it didn't seem very smooth. So I went to an Eminence Governor, and really liked the sound. It seems to match up well to my Maz 38. (I switched to a 1x12 while playing out b/c I didn't like lugging the 55 lb Zbest around!).

I agree about the z best.......those 2 speakers together are a good match. (alone........not so good IMO) Hey Guitarstan, I "himmed and hawed" about dope but decided to go no dope.........glad to hear that you have had no problems with the dope free weber

I like knowing the full resonant capability of the speaker cone is available without any dampening from dope. However, if cone cry or ghosting should become a problem then simply use a Hemp cone Tone Tubby for the louder solution and the untreated Weber for other solutions. To quote another Z member: "It makes sense if you don't think about it."
