I need some explanation of power rating on a speaker vs the amps output power. For instance, I wanted to get a "swamp thing" for my DR.......22watts vs 150 Watt speaker......does that mean I get more clean headroom and it will take more volume to get the amp to break up? It seems like it would be "too much" speaker for my deluxe..........and that I would want something closer to the 22 watts the amp puts out. I am pretty confident that my thinking here is "flawed".........could someone help "unflaw" it?? I know this is a basic question...........

As far as clean headroom it's what is breaking up, the amp or the speaker. The stock speaker is not much. You'll be happier with a better speaker every time.

The Swamp Thang is a nice and big, round sounding American style speaker, would sound great in your DR. If you want maximum clean headroom, that would be a good choice. It will surely make your amp seem louder and you'll hear the amp breakup at higher volumes as opposed to getting any breakup from the speaker. If that sounds like what you want, go for the Swamp! -Greg
